One of our key business objectives is to support our clients with the development of customized parking technology roadmaps that define current and future parking and transportation needs. We support cities with an array of services including parking studies, best practice comparisons, data analysis, incentive and pilot programs, TDM planning, financial modeling, stakeholder outreach, and developing technology, staffing, and wayfinding recommendations.

Job Summary

The Junior Data Analyst is an entry level position that will provide direct support to DIXON Data Analysts and Associates and is responsible for developing data collection plans, data collection, data entry, reviewing raw data outputs, processing data, producing reports, and extracting actionable intelligence. This role will also help develop new dashboards using Power BI and Excel. The ability to recognize and understand trends, collaborate with cross‐functional teams, and solve complex problems is key to success within this role.

Data primarily consist of parking occupancy, expressed as the number of vehicles per block face or off‐street location observed at a particular time, and parking turnover, expressed as the length of time that unique vehicles remain parked in certain on‐street or off‐street locations. The Junior Data Analyst will provide parking data assessments through a variety of methods such as utilizing GIS platforms, field collection, and license plate recognition technologies, and BI Tools. The ideal candidate will have exceptional Excel and Power BI skills, and maintain a high level of detail and accuracy.

While the role is data driven, the Junior Analyst will be required to articulate results both verbally and in written form to support a variety of project applications.

Responsibilities and Duties

The specific responsibilities of the Junior Data Analyst may change from time to time, requiring cooperation and adaptability as the needs of DIXON’s customers evolve. DIXON reserves the right to change, without prior notice, the assignments, duties, and reporting relationships for the Junior Data Analyst.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Assist in the creation of data collection strategies, coordinate the logistics of data collection, review the study area, and ensure appropriate collection practices;
  • Assist in field data collection and management (travel to job sites may be required);
  • Assist in project setup and data entry assignments;
  • Research, compile, and analyze data for trends and key takeaways;
  • Verify accuracy and completeness of raw data received;
  • Assist in development of new dashboards using Power BI and Google Cloud BigQuery;
  • Illustrate data with maps and graphically, and translate complex findings into written text;
  • Generate accurate reports that enable data driven decision‐making;
  • Ability to draft procedures and technical specifications;
  • Ability to write memoranda and reports using concise, and grammatically correct English;
  • Ensure that report deadlines are met and that information is accurate and complete;
  • Plan, initiate, and complete a variety of clerical duties for executive and professional staff;
  • Strong analytical, creative, and innovative approach to problem solving;
  • Ability to learn and use other software that DIXON may need; and,
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field
  • Entry level position but 1 years relevant experience in applied business practices or analysis preferred
  • Experience in public policy, transportation planning, analytics, urban planning, or related field is preferred. Knowledge of parking and transportation demand management is a plus
  • Experience with GIS tools and map interfaces like QGIS and ArcMap
  • Experience with Microsoft Power BI and Google Cloud BigQuery
  • Coding experience is a plus
  • Must have exceptional Excel skills with advanced knowledge of formulas
  • Strong analytical, creative, and innovative approach to problem solving
  • Detail‐oriented, self‐motivated, and able to work in a deadline‐driven environment
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to translate business requirements into non‐technical, lay terms
  • Ability to prioritize workload, solve problems, stay organized, and interact with others to achieve an efficient workflow
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship skills, customer service experience, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Advanced Excel)
  • Possess a professional demeanor, with an ability to adapt to changing conditions
  • Must be willing to travel

Pay: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
