If so, then this is the job for you. Join Dixon’s engineering team where you will learn about modern machines, sand casting, investment casting, 3D printing and state of the art design tools. Located in historic Chestertown Maryland on Maryland’s eastern shore. You will train for 4 periods of 6 months each in various areas of the company. A permanent assignment will be made based on company needs.

Dixon will train an engineer to have the following portfolio of skills after going through the training rotation:
- Solidworks basics and CSWA certification
- Working knowledge of Product Data Management (PDM)
- Working knowledge of machining
- Working knowledge of sand casting and investment casting
- Differentiate between designing for a manual fed CNC machine and an automated cell
- Hydrostatic testing – understand the basics and how to interpret test results
- Exposure to basic troubleshooting
- Proper etiquette for written and verbal communication
- Familiarity with chemical compatibility and what resources are available
- Working knowledge of Dixon’s New Product Development Process
- Leadership Training
Once the training rotation is complete you will:
- Design and develop products or product families for manufacturing.
- Create models and drawings for new designs in Solidworks.
- Reviews drawings for accuracy and completeness.
- Develop product specific quality standards.
- Effectively manages and prioritizes multiple concurrent projects.
- Analyzes complicated situations and forms clear action plans based on available information.
- Projects as assigned to learn and support design and/or manufacturing.
- Interact with Dixon sales personnel and customers to add engineering input to field applications and to aid in sales and solve customer problems.
- Able to function both independently and as part of a collaborative, cross-functional team
- Strong technical problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication, organization, and time/resource management skills
- Must be hands on, this will require time on the shop floor, test lab, and desk
- Detail oriented
- Strong computer skills (Proficient in all Microsoft Office and Google Suite applications)
- Proficiency in SolidWorks
