Diz’s is looking for an experienced Server and Bartender with excitement to cross train as an Expeditor and Host. Diz's Cafe is a Family owned and operated Restaurant that serves Comfort Food and delicious beverages for Lunch and Supper Monday-Thursday until 7:30pm, Friday's until 9:00pm, Breakfast, Lunch and Supper on Saturday's until 9:00pm and only Breakfast on Sunday's until Noon.
Our Servers are the first & last point of contact for our guests. A Diz’s
Server responsibilities include greeting guests, providing accurate wait times when
Host is not on duty, escorting customers to the dining area with Menus and
Silverware or to the counter to order Take Out. This position is also responsible for taking & ringing orders, running food from kitchen window to customer table, and assisting guests as needed. Experience as a Bartender or making drinks is also a plus. This position must possess solid organizational and people skills to make sure guests have a positive dining experience from the moment they arrive until their departure. Ultimately, ensuring excellent customer service and a pleasant dining experience to our guests.
Additionally we would like to cross train this candidate to work as an Expediter in our kitchen. The Expeditor would work to assist with packaging Take Out orders, working with the kitchen staff, assisting with front of the house food and being the liaison between the front and back of the house.
You will work in a fast-paced but relaxed environment to get proper orders out faster and more efficiently to help enhance our quality and reputation. By fulfilling these tasks you will be assisting in increasing the restaurant sales.
A food Expeditor must be a well-organized individual who is able to multitask.
Experience in the restaurant industry is required. Most of our current staff are cross trained to pick up both roles at any point.
Responsibilities
- Review and follow opening or closing check sheet
- Welcome guests to the venue
- Provide accurate wait times and monitor waiting lists, if necessary
- Multi-tasking abilities; Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced work environment
- Direct & assist customers with ordering, menu choices & self-serve drink station
- Take & ring orders on TOAST Handheld
- Deliver food orders from the kitchen to customers’ tables rapidly and accurately
- Act as the contact point between Front of the House and Back of the House staff
- Communicate food orders to chefs, paying attention to priorities and special requests/modifications/allergies
- Ensure food is served in accordance with safety standards (e.g. proper temperature)
- Maintain clean ‘customer view’ areas (including restrooms)
- Cater to guests who require extra attention (e.g. children, elderly)
- Check in with customers and take additional orders or refill water, as needed
- Remove dirty dishes and utensils, if necessary, and clean table tops
- Answer incoming calls and address customers’ queries
- Greet customers upon their departure
- Support any/all other positions as needed
- Work in high paced kitchen environment
- Be the liaison between the Front of the House and Back of the House
- Stay organized with in-house orders and To Go orders
- Stock and Restock Expediter area for your shift and the Expo coming in behind you.
Requirements
- Previous work experience as Waitstaff and Bartending. Kitchen experience a plus.
- Understanding of restaurant etiquette
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations
- Demonstrable customer-service skills
- Excellent communication skills (via phone and in-person)
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to monitor the entire dining area
- Availability to work in shifts as needed
- Good physical condition to walk and stand during an entire shift
- High school diploma; hospitality certification is a plus
- Bilingual a plus
