What are the responsibilities and job description for the BHT - Instructional Specialist position at DKA - Dorothy Kret & Associates, Inc.?
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Directs instructional programs for clients seeking to enter/reenter the workforce.
- Implements curriculum for employment skills classes.
- Curriculum will include development of soft skills to include, but not limited to: interpersonal relationships, communication skills, body language, conflict resolution, handling emotions, stress management, problem solving, understanding workplace culture, time management, prioritizing and scheduling etc.
- and development of hard skills: identifying barriers to employment or independent living, strategies to increase skills, specific skill training for worksite assigned i.e., food industry/culinary skills, computer skills, office skills, clerical skills, resume writing, interview skills, job search skills
- Implements daily lesson plans for 1:1 session according to scheduled needs.
- Collaborates with Program Coordinator and funding source for proper client interventions
- Completes comprehensive daily case notes.
- Updates curriculum as needed to insure current relevant information.
- Attends client support meetings and collaborate with clients’ service providers to ensure comprehensive and appropriate service delivery
- Maintains communication with Program Coordinator, Case Managers, Counselors and other support staff as allowed by HIPPA
- Reports and documents any serious or problematic incident within 24 hours
- Seeks counsel and assistance with any situation outside of job role or area of expertise
- Attends bi-weekly staff meetings
- May be asked to cover for other staff as needed.
- Attends periodic training workshops, seminars and/or conferences as assigned to gain increased knowledge of the field of psychiatric rehabilitation and understanding of various disabilities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. A high school diploma or GED and documentation of one year experience directly working with individuals with disabilities, preferably involved in the provision of vocational rehabilitation services.
2. Ability to complete accurate and comprehensive case notes documenting clients’ progress.
3. Ability to work effectively with people with various disabilities and capabilities
4. Ability to apply principles and methods of teaching and training persons with disabilities.
5. Ability to act responsibly in an emergency.
6. Reliable transportation.
7. Some worksites require applicants to pass a background security check and/or health tests.
8. Teaching and/or training experience.
9. Knowledge of job search skills, job development, Vocational Rehabilitation services and requirements.
10. Understanding of group dynamics and able to work effectively with people with various behavioral difficulties.
11. Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check prior to employment.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Responsible to meet daily scheduled appointments with clients as assigned.
- Responsible to complete daily Case Notes before the end of each day.
- Responsible to provide appropriate notice of time off, in accordance with the company policy.
- Responsible to make DKA clients a priority, for the benefit of DKA.
