Come Join Our Team! DKW Communications, Inc. (DKW) is a government contractor providing professional and technical services to various government agencies i.e. defense, law enforcement and security. We are currently looking for a Technical Writer to join our winning team. The individual hired for this position will provide support to our government customer located at NAS Jacksonville in Jacksonville, FL. This is an onsite position.
Overview:
The Technical Writer will be responsible for the preparation, review, revision, and maintenance of technical documents. Specific duties include:
• Understand basic concepts (to include basic grammar concepts), responsible for working with engineering staff to prepare and maintain operations documentation, user guides, manuals and technical publications
• Assist in performing quality assurance for preparing and maintaining operations documentation, user guides, manuals and technical publications
• Work with engineers to correct documentation based on Technical Engineering Change Requests (TECRs) and prepare Technical Engineering Change Directives (TECDs) for site deliveries
• Use multiple word processing, database, spreadsheet and presentation tools such as MS Word, Excel, Access, PDF Professional (Acrobat/Foxit) and PowerPoint etc.
• Assure documents meet current MIL Standards
• Assure documents have correct references, are consistent and are user friendly
• Perform start to finish on technical documents by digitizing documents to proper Word Processing form then to PDF final presentation with proper hyperlinks and bookmarks
• Basic knowledge of military, aircraft and simulator commonly used standards and terms
• Basic knowledge of technical drawing and engineering schematics
• Maintaining in-house personnel training and recall information
• Prepare delivery documents and media for site deliveries including media labels
• Maintain a current internal documentation library and work with DOD personnel to assure staff are using the proper documents for their tasks. Also work with in-house artists to organize and maintain large library of in house drawings
• Maintain the classified inventory including safeguarding, storing, destroying, transmitting and transporting information per DODM 5200.1
Requirements:
• Secret level security clearance (or higher)
• High School Diploma (College degree/education preferred)
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in developing technical manuals, such as system design documents, configuration drawings, operation manuals, maintenance manuals, and training manuals.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work in a team environment.
• Expert level computer skills
• Ability to organize projects, data and information
