Job Description

The Credit Review Specialist is responsible for performing lending audits with limited supervision. He or she reviews D.L. Evans Bank loan documents and records for evidence of fraud, deficiencies in controls or employee performance, extravagance, or noncompliance with established policies. The Credit Review Specialist completes loan audit functions including verifying, sampling, reviewing, confirming, and reporting in such areas as loan processes, loan functions, and other areas as assigned. He or she ensures compliance with established company policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field or a High School diploma or equivalent and 2-4 years of banking experience including consumer and commercial lending related experience
  • Familiarity with lending documentation, regulations, policies, and procedures required
  • Familiarity with general loan documentation helpful
  • Accurate and attentive to detail
  • Well organized
  • Good typing skills
  • Willing and able to help others
  • Able to use a computer, adding machine, copy machine, and basic business equipment
  • Able to get along well with coworkers
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft office software applications required


Responsibilities

  • Performs audits of credit files
  • Verifies the grades assigned to the institution's commercial loans by the loan officers, credit analysts, and loan committees
  • Maintains a good working knowledge of the institution's lending policies and procedures and examines loans for accuracy, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures
  • Reports to Credit Review Officer, credit administration officials, Chief Financial Officer, and the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors any findings which may have an adverse affect on loan collateral or a borrower's ability to repay the loan
  • Examines loan credits to determine compliance with established policies, standards, and legal requirements and may interview lending personnel when necessary
  • Actively seeks to minimize loan losses by identifying and reporting problems with loans so that adequate corrective measures can be taken
  • Reviews loans, individual loan officer portfolios, and loan relationships as directed by the Credit Review Officer, Senior Loan Committee, Board of Directors, and Audit Committee
  • Participates in the development of new or improved loan audit programs and assists in developing loan audit procedures and makes recommendations
  • Presents loan audit results as required and explains suggested recommendations
  • Maintains and projects the Bank's professional reputation
  • Attends meetings as required
  • Serves as a representative for D.L. Evans Bank in the community
  • Promotes D.L. Evans Bank at all times
  • Completes special projects as assigned
