Job Description
The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for performing a variety of human resource duties. He or she works as a recruiting agent to attract, hire and retain the best employees and grow a strong talent pipeline. The Human Resource Generalist collaborates with department managers to proactively identify hiring needs. He or she assists in maintaining the human resource database and all employee records and files. The Human Resource Generalist completes assigned reporting and recordkeeping functions involving the Bank’s Affirmative Action Plan and applicant, promotion, termination, and transfer data and other information as assigned. He or she completes applicant due diligence including background checks, credit checks and reference checks. The Human Resource Generalist scans and files confidential employee documents as needed. He or she informs new and existing employees of human resource policies and programs and any changes to HR related polices or procedures. The Human Resource Generalist assists HR personnel as necessary.
Qualifications
- At least three to five years of previous human resource experience
- High school diploma or GED required
- Administers programs, procedures and plans used in carrying out human resources policies as well as make minor decisions independently and responds appropriately and quickly in sensitive situations
- Working knowledge of business English, good grammar and spelling skills and the ability to develop correspondence required
- Able to operate related computer applications and business equipment, including adding machine, typewriter, copy machine, coin and money counting machines, telephone, scanner, and branch capture machine
- Professional appearance, dress, and attitude
- Good communication skills
- Good typing skills
Responsibilities
- Attracts, sources and recruits candidates by using ATS, social media, employee referrals, etc.
- Screens candidate resumes and job applications for all positions
- Assesses applicants’ relevant knowledge, skills, soft skills, experience and aptitudes
- Works with hiring managers to schedule applicant interviews
- Assists hiring managers with questions regarding the ATS software and job postings
- Acts as a point of contact in order to build candidate relationships during the selection process
- Offers support to hiring managers throughout the entire hire process both before and after the hire
- Obtains appropriate paperwork and post jobs in the ATS. Ensures that listings and job descriptions
in the internal system are current, compliant and updated as needed
- Ensures that jobs are posted on applicable websites to ensure compliance with the Affirmative Action Plan including those necessary to comply with Veterans and Individuals with Disabilities requirements
- Maintains the internal database of current job descriptions and develops and modifies as needed. Researches changes and ensure that the current job descriptions are accurate and legally compliant
- Performs applicant due diligence including criminal background checks, credit checks reference checks, etc.
- Enters new employee files into Human Resource Information System (HRIS) and/or verifies new employee information and/or current employee changes in the HRIS database
- Assist with the accommodations process. Ensures that employee requests are appropriately handled according to established policies and documented. Refers complex situations to senior vice president human resource manager or assistant vice president human resource officer as needed
- Scan and verifies information into employee personnel files as needed
- Ensures that duties relating to human resource files and personnel records are maintained in accordance with legal requirements and Company policies and procedures. Answers inquiries for authorized personnel in regards to related documents
- Completes miscellaneous research, reports, memos and special projects as assigned or requested
- Enters information from online ATS into excel EEO tracking spreadsheets for applicants, transfers and promotions monthly. At the end of the AA plan year, submits completed spreadsheets to senior vice president human resource manager for review and submission for testing
- Assists senior vice president human resource manager with preparations for annual affirmative action plan employee testing. Enters information into spreadsheets, verifies for accuracy and then submits to senior vice president human resource manager for review and submission to attorney for testing
- Assists with training for all hiring managers regarding requirements of the Bank’s Affirmative Action Plan
- Ensures that annual federal subcontractor letters are sent and annual disclosures are provided to appropriate personnel for inclusion in the appropriate Bank contracts
- Assists with the submissions of the annual Vets 4212 and EEO-1 reports. Maintains a working knowledge of both reports in order to serve as a backup to the senior vice president human resource manager if needed
- Maintains and scans appropriate documents to verify federal contractor responsibilities are being completed. Maintains files for appropriate length of time. Supplies documents in the event of an internal or external audit
- Remains informed regarding changes in federal laws or status that govern Affirmative Action, Equal Employment Opportunity and any guidance changes or developments from the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) or the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).
