Duties

  • If selected at the GS-12 level the following duties will be performed in a developmental capacity.
  • Serves in planning, analyzing, managing, staffing, issuing directing and closing out work assignments to support Defense Logistics Agency and J34 leadership priorities and tasking.
  • Serves as an advisor Agency's supporting senior leaders in defining required tasks, validating completeness, determining linkages with other initiatives, and finalizing Agency and Directorate taskers.
  • Integrates high-level briefings, products, presentations, and written and oral communications that support critical and time-sensitive strategic/operational/tactical customer matters.
  • Resolves complex problems, offer guidance to individual service members, supervisors, senior leaders, and executives in the implementation of new policies and revised regulations and briefing various levels of management.
  • Serves as the focal point for monitoring progress, analyzing completeness of responses, evaluating secondary and tertiary effects of any changes about policy or interrelated issues and as required, conducting secondary coordination as a result.
  • Brings items to closure by preparing reports and notifying affected stakeholders and DLA J34 senior leaders.

Qualifications

To qualify for an Administrative Staff Officer, your resume and supporting documentation must support: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

  • Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-13 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:
  • GS-12: Under supervision resolves complex problems; Offers expert guidance to individual service members, supervisors, senior leaders, and executives in the implementation of new policies and revised regulations and briefing various levels of management; and Performs in-depth analysis, developing courses of action, and recommending strategies to improve capabilities and services in areas.
  • GS-13: Independently resolves complex problems; Offers expert guidance to individual service members, supervisors, senior leaders, and executives in the implementation of new policies and revised regulations and briefing various levels of management; and Performs in-depth analysis, developing courses of action, and recommending strategies to improve capabilities and services in areas.

Education

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
