Applicants will be rated in accordance with the Office of Personnel Management Qualification Standard for Trades and Labor Occupations. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties at the level for which you are applying. Emphasis is placed on how you gained the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time, and the required ability or potential to perform the job. Applicants who do not meet the screen-out element (SOE) will be eliminated from further competition.
The SOE And Minimum Qualifications For This Position Is
Physical Effort: Stands on hard surfaces maintaining balance for extended periods of time. Work requires bending, stooping, reaching and twisting in tiring and uncomfortable positions, many times all at the same time. Frequently lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 pounds. Uses weight handling equipment or receives assistance from other workers for items heavier than 40 pounds. Moderate physical effort is used in operating hand and foot controls when operating materials handling equipment.
Working Conditions: Work is performed within a warehouse or storage environment that may or may not have air conditioning or heating. Works outside and inside in areas that are hot, damp, cold, drafty, and poorly lighted. Subject to cuts, scrapes, bruises, muscle strain, noise, abrasions, falls, and injury from falling stock. May be exposed to dusty, dirty, or greasy conditions. Must possess or be able to obtain all appropriate state and governmental licenses. Working conditions are a normal part of the job and are considered in the evaluation of the position.

- Exercises technical and administrative supervision over subordinate workers.
- Plans the use of subordinate workers, equipment, facilities, and materials based on workload projections on a weekly or monthly basis.
- Establishes deadlines, priorities, and work sequences, in accordance with general work schedules, methods, and policies established by higher-level supervisors.
- Determines the number and types of workers needed to accomplish specific projects.
- Assigns work to individual workers by verbal or written instructions.
- Monitors work in progress and inspects completed work to assure work order requirements.
- Sets performance standards for subordinates and makes formal appraisals of their work performance.
- Counsels employees and discusses informal complaints and grievances with workers and union representatives.
- Initiates disciplinary actions as needed.
- Maintains work reports and records.

- Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Material Handling Equipment (MHE) license.
