Help

Duties

  • Provide support for the development of existing and newly requested FedMall Functionally.
  • Perform technical upgrades for all FedMall components to support new development as required.
  • Maintain Single Sign On (SSO) capabilities and develop new SSO solutions for backend applications.
  • Collaborate with the FedMall Team to design, build, and execute Performance Stress Testing scenarios.
  • Provide administration support for FedMall environments to include (i.e., patching, file storage and transfer, importing and exporting content.
  • file systems and portal provisioning, documentation of processes, security documentation, account management, troubleshooting, network configuration and operation system configuration).
  • Provide day-to-day and emergency support for all portal environments in the build, performance test and Production Support landscapes.
  • Resolves problems and areas requiring corrective action as related to day-to-day operations.
  • Responsible for applying an in-depth knowledge of appropriate software life cycle management policies and procedures.
  • Establish, monitor, update and implement actions for Plans of Action and Milestones (POA/M) related to the Enterprise Level applications in T/D, Production, and COOP environments.
  • Interprets and clarifies policies, procedures, performance standards and monitoring techniques related to audit readiness, vulnerability management, and information security.
  • Applies the following: IT program management approaches, agile principles, emerging IT acquisition strategies, performance measures and quality management, acquisition planning,
  • information assurance, systems engineering, IT systems sustainment approaches, and systems engineering activities as they relate to program protection, interoperability, and technology.
  • Conducts and/or participates in the research and investigation of technological developments that have the potential to improve the design, documentation,
  • development, modification, testing, installation, implementation, and support of new or existing applications software.

Qualifications

To qualify for IT Specialist (APPSW), your resume and supporting documentation must support:

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:

  • Performs design, development and maintenance of appropriate portions of training material in a prescribed method that will be used for knowledge transfer and training of other team members.
  • Develops project plans, implementation guidance, and assesses implementation of information assurance vulnerability alerts and CERT taskings.
  • Interprets and clarifies policies, procedures, performance standards and monitoring techniques related to audit readiness, vulnerability management, and information security.
  • Participates in all phases of the systems development life cycle, including design, development, support and maintenance of the assigned system.
  • Executes software administration best practices to ensure system confidentiality, availability and integrity, security.

For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.

  • Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
  • Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
