Summary of Job:
The GIS Technician works closely with Field Managers and department leaders to produce tailored datasets and develop GIS mobile applications. Under the guidance of the GIS Supervisor and/or a GIS Professional, they utilize GIS technology to support field operations and drive business development initiatives. The Technician provides extensive support and training to enhance the usage of GIS tools by organizational users and conducts data collection at job sites as needed. This position also offers growth opportunities for advancement to a GIS Analyst role within the organization.
Essential Functions:
GIS
· Process, update, and maintain all GIS mapping requests in a timely and accurate manner.
· Enhance and maintain GIS databases with the latest field data.
· Extract and manipulate data from various databases for use in maps and/or reports.
· Travel to field operations to collect mapping information and verify data accuracy.
· Develop and conduct training for staff on the use of GIS applications.
· Work independently and facilitate teamwork for larger projects.
· Assist various divisions with field data collection and interpretation.
· Produce, maintain, and enhance maps in ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, and ArcGIS Online.
· Edit GIS Data for geometry, topology, and attribute integrity, ensuring compliance with centralized data models.
· Coordinate with sales staff and field operations to define, create, and execute maps and other GIS-related projects.
· Regular attendance in the office or field as assigned is required.

Job Skills/Requirements:
Experience: (Minimum work background, which provides the skills necessary for successful performance)
· Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university with a major in Geography or related field, or GIS certification, or 2 years directly related GIS experience. (preferred but not required)
· Proficient in ESRI software, with a high-level understanding of GIS principles and coordinate systems.
· Understanding of SQL database management and programming is preferred but not required.
· Competency with MS Office (Word, Outlook, and Excel).
· Great verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in English is necessary, and Spanish is preferred.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team environment with strong problem-solving skills.
· Capacity to work proactively, handle multiple requests/projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
· Valid AZ driver’s license with ability to travel to various worksites within the Phoenix area.
· Strong analytical, conceptual, communication and organizational skills.
· Experience with or knowledge of plants, irrigation, or landscaping is preferred but not required.
· Familiarity with ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Pro, Field Maps, and Survey123.
· The role offers flexibility with regard to working hours with the option for some remote work
