Business Intelligence Data Analyst

DMF Lighting is a fast-growing leader in the lighting industry, always hard at work engineering what comes next. We have an exciting opportunity in our IT department for a BI Data Analyst. 

• Pay range is $80,000 to $110,000 annually (depending on experience/knowledge/skills)
• Location: onsite in Carson, CA

We are seeking a highly creative and strategic Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst with expertise in Oracle Database, ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes and reporting tools (including Oracle APEX) to support data-driven decision-making across the organization. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, optimizing and maintaining BI solutions ensuring high-quality data availability, and working towards a long-term migration strategy to a modern, scalable reporting platform.

This role is responsible for designing and maintaining BI solutions that provide insights into sales, inventory, supply chain, and customer trends. The ideal candidate will transform raw data into actionable intelligence, supporting key business decisions to drive profitability and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

BI Development & Reporting

• Develop, maintain, and enhance interactive dashboards and reports using Oracle APEX and other BI tools such as Tableau, Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC).
• Design and implement efficient SQL queries for reporting and analytical needs.
• Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and performance in Oracle-based reporting.
• Provide insights by analyzing data trends and patterns to support business decisions.

ETL & Data Integration

• Design and manage ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) pipelines for data movement from various sources to Oracle databases.
• Optimize ETL processes to ensure data consistency, integrity, and performance.
• Work with Oracle Data Integrator (ODI), SQL scripts, and PL/SQL procedures for automation.
• Troubleshoot and resolve data pipeline issues.

Database Management

• Manage and optimize Oracle Database for high-performance analytics and reporting.
• Implement indexing, partitioning, and query tuning techniques to improve database performance.
• Ensure data security, backups, and recovery plans are in place.

Strategic Migration to a Scalable Reporting Platform

• Assess current BI and reporting infrastructure to identify scalability challenges.
• Research and recommend modern BI solutions (e.g., Tableau, Oracle Analytics Cloud).
• Develop a roadmap for migration from Oracle APEX reporting to a more scalable, cloud-enabled BI solution.
• Work with stakeholders to ensure seamless transition with minimal disruption to business operations.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field.
• 5 years of experience in BI development, reporting, and data analytics.
• Strong expertise in Oracle Database (SQL, PL/SQL), ETL development, and APEX.
• Proficiency in data modeling, query optimization, and performance tuning.
• Knowledge of modern BI and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Looker, QlikView).
• Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in migrating legacy BI platforms to cloud-based solutions.
• Knowledge of Python, R, or other scripting languages for data analysis.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices for BI development.
• Experience with ETL tools like Oracle Data Integrator (ODI), Informatica, or similar technologies.
• Experience with cloud data warehousing solutions (AWS Redshift, Snowflake, Google BigQuery, or Azure Synapse) is a plus.
