DailyMail.com is looking for an energetic and skilled reporter to join our Washington, D.C.- based team covering U.S. politics.

This is a rare opportunity for a smart, prolific journalist to write for the English-speaking world's most-read newspaper website as it expands and looks to the future.

The D.C. politics team is responsible for covering cover breaking news of the day in D.C. whether it originates on Capitol Hill, at the White House, in Cabinet agencies or on the campaign trail.

This position will have a focus on coverage of the Senate and upcoming midterm elections in addition to major developments in national security.

Outstanding candidates will be able to work flexible hours, be ready to cover news whenever it breaks, and be able to run live coverage of major events. This includes evenings and weekends.

They will be able to write sharp and entertaining copy and headlines and understand how to communicate in words, photographs and video.

Most importantly, an outstanding candidate must have the ability to break stories that will beat our competition and land unrivalled scoops to drive the national conversation.

The successful applicant will be based in the Washington, D.C., metro area. We offer competitive salary, benefits and vacation time. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree
• Passion for the DailyMail.com brand, its editorial voice and global audience.
• Demonstrated ability to write strong copy under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of Congress, the White House and campaigns
• Ability to deliver on developed sources and a drive to push to get scoops and groundbreaking exclusives to drive the national narrative and beat competitors
• Ideas of how DailyMail.com can improve and grow its political coverage
