The Department of Developmental Services (DDS), Northeast Regional Office (Danvers), is looking for a passionate and enthusiastic human service professional for the Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) Department. This Brain Injury Services Coordinator position will be coordinating services for individuals eligible for (ABI) and (MFP) waivers pursuant to the Hutchinson settlement agreement.


Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):

  • The ABI Service Coordinator works with an Interdisciplinary Team in the development,
    coordination, and integration of service plans for assigned individuals.
  • Coordinates the activities of a multitude of service stakeholders including: MassHealth, UMASS, Transitional Entities, and Agencies, Residential and Day service providers and DDS staff.
  • Maintains and updates written and electronic records.
  • Serves as advocate on behalf of the individual.
  • Monitors and documents the provision of services and modifies service plans as needed.
  • Protects the privacy of information and ensures that the individual's legal, civil and human rights are protected.
  • Provides information and other services to individuals and their families.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with individuals with Acquired Brain Injury and related conditions.
  • Knowledge of the types and manifestations of developmental, psychological and emotional disorders for individuals with Acquired Brain Injury.
  • Previous first-hand knowledge of the ABI and MFP Waivers.
  • Experience in the transitioning of individuals who are receiving residential and developmental support from a nursing home or rehabilitation facility to community-based services.
  • Experience negotiating waiver services rates with providers.
  • Understanding of related Medicaid and Medicare regulations.

Qualifications Required At Hire:

  • Knowledge and demonstrated skill in development and implementation of educational, and/or Individual Support Plan (ISP).
  • Sensitivity to religious, ethnic and linguistic diversity of participants with Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) or qualifying disabilities and their family members.
  • Knowledge of the general field of Acquired Brain Injury or qualifying disabilities.
  • Knowledge of the principles and theories of participant and family growth and development.
  • Knowledge of mental health and/or behavioral disorders, and supports needed to address those disorders.
  • Knowledge of motivation and positive reinforcement techniques.
  • Ability to demonstrate skill in handling confidential information.
  • Ability to seek guidance and support and take direction from supervisors and clinical consultants when needed.
  • Establishing and Maintaining Relationships: developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others.
  • Working with the Public: Dealing respectfully and professionally with the public, including receiving clients or others doing business with the agency in a sensitive and understanding manner.
  • Adaptability/Flexibility: Being open to change (positive or negative) and to considerable variety in the workplace.

This position is located in the Hogan Regional Center in Danvers, MA

Schedule:

Full-time 37.5 hours
Hours: Monday-Friday 8:45a.m.- 5:00p.m.
Days Off: Saturday & Sunday

  • Flexibility required to meet the needs of the program/area office.

ALL EMPLOYEES ARE PAID ON A Bl-WEEKLY BASIS AND MUST HAVE DIRECT DEPOSIT. Listed salary ranges are for one full year at current rates.


Qualifications

First consideration will be given to those applicants that apply within the first 14 days.

Applicants must have (A) at least three (3) years of full-time or equivalent part-time, professional experience in human services work or social work or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and substitutions below.

Substitutions:

I. A Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field may substitute for two (2) years of the required (A) experience.

Based on assignment, travel may be required. Incumbents who elect to use a motor vehicle for travel must have a current and valid motor vehicle driver's license at a class level specific to assignment.

Based on assignment as Qualified Intellectual Disabled Professionals, within the Department of Developmental Services, a Bachelor's degree or higher in social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, counseling education, education of the physically or emotionally handicapped, education of the multiple handicapped, education of the learning disabled, human services, rehabilitation, rehabilitation counseling, nursing, recreation therapy, art therapy, dance therapy, music therapy, physical education or other a related field is required.

Salary placement is determined by a combination of factors, including the candidate’s years of directly related experience and education, and alignment with our internal compensation structure as set forth by the Human Resources Division’s Hiring Guidelines. For all bargaining unit positions (non-management), compensation is subject to the salary provisions outlined in the applicable collective bargaining agreement and will apply to placement within the appropriate salary range.
