The Department of Developmental Services (DDS) is dedicated to creating, in partnership with other, innovative and genuine opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities to participate fully and meaningfully in, and contribute to, their communities as valued members.

The Clerk IV is responsible for answering telephones, redirecting calls, multi-tasking other reception activities including professionally greeting individuals, guardians, families, vendors and guest coming into the office. The Clerk IV will be responsible for ensuring that all incoming and outgoing mail is managed efficiently and timely and will also assist all staff with copying, mailing, investigation process, and filing into established files/records. This person will share responsibility in the upkeep and maintenance demands of office equipment, such as filling the paper and toner in the copiers, printers, and fax machines and seeking out repairs as necessary.

The Clerk IV should have excellent organizational skills and extensive experience in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. The Clerk IV will learn to navigate established data systems such as: Meditech and HCSIS (Home and Community Services Information System). The Clerk IV must be able to understand and follow moderately complex oral and written instructions and able to collect, compile and interpret data and prepare complex reports. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus

Schedule:
Monday-Friday 9:00am-5:00pm with Saturday and Sunday Off.
Flexibility required to meet the needs of the Area Office.

Qualifications

First consideration will be given to those applicants that apply within the first 14 days.


Applicants must have at least (A) three years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience in office work, or (B) and equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below:

I. A diploma as evidence of graduation from the commercial or business course of a recognized high school or vocational/technical high school may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required experience. *

II. A diploma as evidence of graduation from a course other than the commercial or business course of a recognized high school or vocational/technical high school or possession of a Massachusetts high school equivalency certificate may be substituted for a maximum of eight months of the required experience. *

III. A diploma for completion of a one year, full-time, or equivalent part-time, program in a recognized, non-degree granting business or secretarial school above the high school level may be substituted for a maximum or one year of the required experience. *

IV. A diploma for completion of a two-year, full-time, or equivalent part-time, program in a recognized, non-degree granting business or secretarial school above the high school level may be substituted for two years of the required experience.*

  • Education toward such a degree or diploma will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.

Salary placement is determined by a combination of factors, including the candidate’s years of directly related experience and education, and alignment with our internal compensation structure as set forth by the Human Resources Division’s Hiring Guidelines. For all bargaining unit positions (non-management), compensation is subject to the salary provisions outlined in the applicable collective bargaining agreement and will apply to placement within the appropriate salary range.
