What are the responsibilities and job description for the Basketball Coach/Trainer position at DNA Basketball Academy?
Basketball Instructor leads and actively engages in a safe, organized, meaningful, enriching, and fun basketball
program for groups of campers primarily ages 5-17. The program should focus on skills for basketball, athletics and
for life, such as teamwork, healthy competition, being active and healthy, and having fun. Candidates must be
available to work 4 days a week 2hrs per day Tuesday Thursday and Friday . Qualifications and Skills:
- Training/certification and/or experience in Basketball.
- Demonstrated experience playing and coaching Basketball/or working with and leading children
preferably in the sport of basketball.
- Desire and ability to supervise, lead, and positively manage team and work with other staff in a cooperative, team-oriented camp atmosphere.
- Knowledge and skills in Basketball the ability to teach these skills to players and staff.
- Strong communication skills.
- Possess excellent character, integrity, adaptability, patience, self-control, enthusiasm, and a sense of humor.
- Pass a Fl State background check.
Responsibilities:
- Formulate, plan, and lead age appropriate, safe, and enriching activities in the sport.
- Follow and uphold all policies and philosophies of DNA
- Follow and uphold all state and local health and safety regulations and guidelines and those set by the team.
- Teach staff their responsibilities in your activity area during staff training and throughout the season.
- Teach and guide teams, CITs, and coworkers in participating successfully and appropriately in all aspects
of the sport and related activities, including proper and safe use of equipment..
- Conduct initial, in-season, and end-of-season inventories, assuring appropriate supplies for activity and storage of the supplies.
- Conduct and ensure regular cleaning and checks of spaces and equipment are being performed by group staff according to health and safety protocols.
- Participate in and assist in running team events and initiatives.
- Communicate regularly with the direct supervisor regarding concerns, updates, challenges, and successes.
- Communicate with parents about their child when necessary and appropriate.
- Set a good example for players and coworkers in all areas, including but not limited to health and safety, accountability, fairness, organization, punctuality, following the rules, and sportsmanship.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor and Director.
Job Requirements
- Available 5:45pm-8:15pm Tuesday Thursday and Friday including some Saturdays for the entire program season and to attend all staff training
sessions before and during program season.
- Ability to observe players behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate health and safety
regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior management techniques.
- Occasional lifting, bending, and climbing stairs.
- Frequent talking, listening, walking, , and standing.
- Possess the visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to team activity.
- Be able to lead and fully participate in the sport.

Pay: $400.00 - $600.00 per month
