About the role
The Columbus Technology Center in Dublin, OH is seeking a Laboratory Technician to perform specialized corrosion and mechanical testing to assess material behavior in hydrogen, CO2, hydrogen sulfide, and various other environments. The research and testing performed in Columbus supports operations and infrastructure to meet the current energy demand, while accelerating decarbonization strategies that include transportation and storage of hydrogen and CO2.
This position is based in Dublin, OH and requires an onsite presence to perform the responsibilities of the position.
What You ll Do:
- Setup and run laboratory experiments, including the ability to:
- Handle pressurized equipment/gas and chemicals/test solutions (some environments will be hazardous, such as H2 and H2S thorough safety training will be provided)
- Collect data
- Analyze test specimens using photography, microscopy, balances, calipers
- Design/procure test materials and coordinate machining jobs
- Follow established safety and quality procedures
- Provide input on design of customized test set-ups
- Inspect, test, repair/troubleshoot, and install equipment
- Adhere to Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality Assurance program on projects.
- Complete other duties as assigned

About you
What is Required:
- High School Diploma or higher.
- Mechanical aptitude and hands-on work experience.
- Prior experience with servo-electric or hydraulic load machines.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently.
- Ability to adhere to specific test procedures.
- Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 40 lbs; capacity to routinely push, pull, reach, bend, twist, stoop, kneel, etc., while handling such weight.
- Ability to wear a respirator.
- Well-organized and proactive, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and competitive environment while interacting with a diverse group of clients and co-workers.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 5% of the time.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Completion of pre-employment background and drug screening, along with random drug screening as per Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements.
What is Preferred:
- Experience working with projects on a fixed budget.
- Prior involvement as part of a project team.
- Proficiency in handling LabVIEW-based data acquisition (DAQ) systems.
- Basic understanding of electronics.
- Knowledge of mechanical behavior and properties, such as stress, strain, fracture toughness, stress intensity factor, and R-ratio.
- Previous experience in a corrosion testing laboratory.
