Purpose of Job
Fall 2025 – Spring 2026
Career Consultants are Doane University sophomore, junior and senior students who have a desire and invested interest in sharing and promoting career development to their peers on campus. They serve as ambassadors through active participation in one-on-one peer consultations. Career, Leadership, & Service seeks to build a team that promotes and demonstrates respect for all students, inclusive of all races, ages, ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, religions, and abilities.

- Develop and enhance professionalism and career competencies
- Increase communication skills through one-on-one coaching and general promotion of career development to peers
- Define, develop, and grow personal career goals and connections
- Learn more about the career development process through writing of job search documents, understanding today’s job search strategies and the power of networking
General Description and Duties
- Represent CLS career initiatives across campus
- Dress and behave in a professional manner
- Participate in various outreach initiatives and career events
- Hold one-on-one career consultations with peers regarding basic résumés, cover letters, job searches, and the internship for credit process
- Teach peers how to use Handshake effectively
- Participate in developing content for digital marketing
- General office duties as assigned
- Required Student Leadership Training on Sunday, April 27th, 2025
Special Skills or Knowledge Required
- Sophomore or junior standing when applying, must commit to one year (two semesters) of employment
- Leadership experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong critical thinking and analytical skills, time management
- Ability to work independently and within a collaborative team

Total Weekly Hours Required
4-5 hours per week required, $13.50 per hour
