Purpose of Job
Summer 2025 and Fall Semester 2025
An Orientation Leader (OL) conveys information to new students and their families about Doane University’s programs and services. The OL assists with orientation events and summer enrollment days and plays a vital role in facilitating the adjustment of new students to our campus and the community. The OL position is an outstanding opportunity for any student interested in gaining leadership skills and experience.
LEARNING OUTCOMES

The OL assists with orientation events and summer enrollment days and plays a vital role in facilitating the adjustment of new students to our campus and the community. The OL position is an outstanding opportunity for any student interested in gaining leadership skills and experience.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
- OLs will be able to discuss the Doane Community with new students
- OLs will be able to manage a group of new students
- OLs will be able to recognize concerns that may arise within the Orientation group
General Description and Duties
- The OL will assist with orientation events and summer enrollment days by leading discussion groups with incoming students and family members
- Assisting in the preparation of activities and materials; explaining academic opportunities and procedures; acquainting new students with campus services and building locations
- Aiding in the development of class schedules and assisting the registration process; and discussing sensitive issues
- OLs will promote and demonstrate respect for all students, inclusive of all races, ages, ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, religions, abilities or identities.
- Attend required Spring Student Leadership Training (Sunday, April 27th)
- In addition, OLs will attend ALL Fall training sessions and Fall new student orientation programs (Welcome Week)
Special Skills or Knowledge Required
- Have a genuine interest in promoting Doane to students and families
- Students who display leadership development potential and strong communication skills
- Positive attitude about Doane and welcoming others to campus
- General knowledge of campus and campus resources
- Have good academic standing and disciplinary standing

Below are the Enrollment Days for 2025
Physical Demands
Students will receive a $150 stipend
- Participation in Enrollment Days is considered an essential part of the OL commitment, and preference will be given to OL candidates who are available for Enrollment Days.
- We need a minimum of 15 OLs for each day.
- Summer Enrollment Days: In Person- June 12, 13, 23, July 11/Virtual- June 24, July 25
- Welcome Week-August 9th-17th (including OL Training)
