Summary of Primary Functions:

The Precision Construction Certified Dealer Instructor is responsible for delivering certified training programs in collaboration with the John Deere Training Organization. This role ensures dealer personnel and customers receive the necessary knowledge and skills to maximize equipment uptime and operational efficiency. Additionally, the instructor serves as a technical resource, supporting service and parts departments by diagnosing and resolving product issues, reducing downtime, and improving technician competencies.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities: May include some or all of the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    •    Become certified by John Deere to deliver approved training courses.

    •    Organize on-site logistics, including equipment setup, training materials, and classroom preparation.

    •    Deliver high-quality training sessions following the leader’s guide to ensure consistent instruction.

    •    Monitor student progress, ensuring full participation and understanding.

    •    Provide post-training reports, including attendance and course evaluation results.

    •    Assist managing expert connect process for customer utilization and Satisfaction

    •    Act as a resource for Service Managers, Service Advisors, Technicians, and Parts Leads in diagnosing & resolving equipment issues.

    •    Conduct preliminary investigations using CCMS, Machine Dashboard, Expert Alerts, and other diagnostic tools.

    •    Collaborate with John Deere Factory Support to resolve complex technical issues.

    •    Document and submit cases to CCMS with accurate information.

    •    Identify emerging product quality concerns and support proactive resolutions.

    •    Provide input on training needs and recommend technical courses to address skill gaps for PCTs to maintain and achieve needed Certifications and Capstone.

    •    Develop and share best practices across all dealership service locations.

    •    Analyze service department reports to identify opportunities for improvement and operational growth.

    •    Assist in the development and implementation of improved service and parts processes.

    •    Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge of John Deere and competitive products and Formally Share needed informational updates company wide. 

    •    Operate and maintain vehicles, tools, and equipment for training and troubleshooting purposes.

    •    Ensure a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all safety standards.

    •    Promote a positive company image and uphold core values.

    •    Participate in Service EDUCATE programs and other company-sponsored training.


Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

    Valid Driver’s License

    Industry experience

    Management experience

    Technical Training experience  


Technical Skills & Knowledge: 

    4 years in service and parts department operations, with a focus on diagnostics, repair, and technical training.

    Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems used in off-road, construction, and heavy equipment.

    Experience using Service ADVISOR™, Parts ADVISOR™, Expert Alerts, Machine Health Dashboard, and other diagnostic tools.

    Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to deliver effective training sessions.

    Strong analytical skills to diagnose and resolve product issues efficiently.

    High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in a related field preferred.

    Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred.

    Must remain current on all Certifications required to lead & instruct Capstone & technical training


Education: Formal education or training required to perform the essential functions of the job. Includes degrees, certificates, licenses and/or registration requirements.  

    Capstone Certifications Required, ongoing training provided.


Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.

 

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here represent those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is continuously required to:

    Ability to work using Personal Protective Equipment, including respirators, welding shields, hard hats, vests, safety glasses, goggles, gloves etc.

    Ability to use full range of motion for back, arms, hands, and fingers.

    Able to use full range of motion for both legs, including climbing, twisting, squatting, and pushing with both legs.

    Able to climb onto or down from mobile construction equipment, typically 3-4 feet of climbing, for service and inspection.

    The employee is frequently required to lift or carry loads greater than 50 lbs but less than 75 lbs.

    Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance and color vision.

    The employee is regularly required to talk or hear at moderate noise levels.
