Dobbs Truck Group operates 25 commercial truck dealerships through two operating companies – Dobbs Peterbilt and Western Truck Center. These dealerships represent some of the best commercial truck brands including Peterbilt, Volvo, Mack, Autocar, and Hino and include locations in Arkansas, California, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oregon, Tennessee, and Washington.

I. General Job Description


The Director of Information Technology at Dobbs Truck Group is a strategic leader responsible for driving technological innovation and ensuring the seamless operation of our IT infrastructure across all 22 dealership locations. This role will lead the IT organization, aligning technology strategies with business objectives to optimize efficiency, enhance security, and support the company’s growth. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, exceptional leadership skills, and a proven ability to manage complex IT environments in a multi-site retail or service setting.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic IT Leadership:
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive IT strategy that supports the company's growth and operational goals.
  • Provide visionary leadership to the IT team, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
  • Identify and evaluate emerging technologies to drive business improvements and competitive advantage.
  • Manage the IT budget, ensuring cost-effective resource allocation and maximizing ROI.
  • Infrastructure & Operations Management:
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of a robust and scalable IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, data centers, and telecommunications.
  • Ensure the continuous uptime and performance of critical IT systems across all dealership locations.
  • Implement and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans to minimize operational disruptions.
  • Develop, monitor and manage the procurement of new IT hardware (e.g., computers, etc.) to ensure that it meets user requirements and is cost-effective.
  • Manage vendor relationships, and negotiate contracts.
  • Security & Compliance:
  • Develop and enforce IT security policies and procedures to protect company data and systems.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry regulations and standards.
  • Conduct regular security audits and risk assessments to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities.
  • Implement and maintain software licensing compliance.
  • Team Leadership & Development:
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing IT team.
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment.
  • Manage team performance, provide feedback, and support professional development.
  • Manage IT related helpdesk and end user support.
  • Project Management & Implementation:
  • Lead and manage IT projects, ensuring on-time and within-budget delivery.
  • Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets.
  • Proactively forecast future IT needs.
  • Analyze computer usage data to improve efficiency.

II. Minimum Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, information technology or related field.
  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience in an information technology department.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a managerial IT role
  • Experience managing IT infrastructure for a multi-site organization.

III. Preferred Job Qualifications

  • Experience in the automotive, truck, or heavy equipment dealership industry.
  • Strong technical knowledge of networks, digital technology and PC based applications.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong project management skills.

IV. Mental Capability Requirements

  • Comprehension: Ability to understand opposing points of view on highly complex issues, negotiate, and integrate different viewpoints.
  • Organization: Ability to organize and prioritize work schedules of others on long-term basis.
  • Reasoning & Decision Making: Ability to make decisions with significant impact on department’s credibility, operations, and services.
  • Communication: Ability to formulate complex and comprehensive materials, such as legal documents, authoritative reports, official publications of major scope and impacts, and make formal presentations.
  • Mathematics: Ability to compute, analyze, and interpret complex statistical data and develop forecasts and computer models.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is not exposed to weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
