POSITION SUMMARY
Performs duties associated with the servicing of tires and upkeep of the showroom and service area.
ESSENTIAL FUCNTIONS OF THE JOB
- Dismounts and mounts tires. Examines damaged, defective or flat tires to determine feasibility of repairs. Repairs damaged tires and tubes of automotive vehicles. Balances and rotates tires on vehicles as required.
- Cleans work areas, equipment and automotive parts using prescribed solvents and housekeeping methods.
- Performs minor automotive repairs and adjustments, such as lubrication of vehicles, changing oil and replacement of accessories.
- Responds to calls to take customers home and to drive vehicles into and out of service bay area.
- Receives and inventories tires. Determines proper storage location by size and type of tire and stacks accordingly.
- Inspects all tire casings making appropriate designation as to used versus scrap tires.
MARGINAL FUCNTIONS OF THE JOB
- Executes miscellaneous assignments and job duties as required.
- Delivers tires to other service locations, as required.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge
- Length of training to perform at minimum level: 1 to 3 months
- Valid drivers’ license required.
Experience:
- Proficient use of tools and equipment used in the repair and servicing of automotive vehicles.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Work 40 hours per week (some overtime expected).
- Exposure to extremes in temperature due to nature and activity of business.
- Chemical exposure/contact to various solvents, lubricants and fluids used in the repair and service of automotive vehicles.
