What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Coach position at Doc Wayne Youth Services, Inc.?
Essential Functions: Doc Wayne Youth Services is seeking a youth coach to provide services in a thriving agency. Youth coaches work with youth in school- and community-based settings to build positive, role model relationships in order to help them build skills and confidence as they work towards their therapeutic goals. More specifically, youth coaches will run social emotional programming during recess hours at partner sites. Reliable transportation is required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as primary coach at school-based therapeutic recess program
- Take the lead on planning daily activities for assigned recess site
- Plan and carry out activities that encourage positive youth development
- Create a safe environment with youth to foster a positive, therapeutic relationship
- Participate in and complete required trainings
- Attend regular meetings with partner sites; maintain regular communication with the points of contact at assigned partner sites and seek feedback to strengthen program delivery
- Participate in relevant event at assigned partner sites such as school-wide presentations, sporting events, etc.
- Embody Doc Wayne’s culture dedicated to teamwork, cultural awareness, and innovation
- Work professionally and collaboratively with all partners; communicate with supervisor and school staff when conflicts with students and/or school staff arise
- Maintain contact with parents/guardians as necessary
- Attend weekly group supervision meetings
- Keep clinical records that are accurate, current, and meet regulations
- Refer to and consult with supervisor about any person served who may need a different level of care, is inappropriate for current level of care, requires change or revision in treatment or service plan, or transfer to another agency
- Share creative ideas that advance the mission of Doc Wayne
- Special projects as assigned
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Human Services OR an Associate’s degree in Human Services with one year of experience OR a high school diploma or GED/HiSET with at least two years of experience
- Team player dedicated to serving as a caring adult and role model to underserved youth
- Disposition towards school/community involvement and engagement
- Willingness and openness to learn new skills through provided trainings, supervision, etc.
- Access to a car is required
- Multilingual skills highly preferred
- Superior interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task efficiently
