Duties
- Perform comprehensive eye examinations to assess vision and detect eye diseases
- Prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other visual aids as needed
- Diagnose and treat visual conditions such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism
- Monitor patients for signs of ocular diseases like glaucoma and cataracts
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide integrated patient care
- Stay informed about advancements in optometry practices and technologies
Skills
- Strong knowledge of physiology and anatomy related to the eyes
- Familiarity with medical terminology and ophthalmic systems
- Proficiency in conducting patient assessments and utilizing vital signs
- Experience in patient care with a focus on senior care if possible
- Understanding of aseptic techniques for maintaining cleanliness during procedures
- Ability to perform succession planning for long-term patient management
