Overview
Docs for Tots is seeking an Outreach Coordinator – part or full time. Help Me Grow Long Island (HMGLI) is a free resource connecting families and providers to community resources and child development information in Nassau and Suffolk counties, with the mission of promoting optimal development of Long Island’s young children. HMGLI is managed by Docs for Tots, a pediatrician led non-profit organization promoting practices, policies, and investments that will enable young children to thrive.
Responsibilities
The Outreach Coordinator will engage with the community to expand Help Me Grow Long Island’s network of agencies and resources, with the goal of making them better informed, connected, and equipped to support the families served by HMGLI. The Outreach Coordinator will support the HMGLI team in these ways:
- Develop HMGLI’s network of community agencies, creating relationships with new organizations and maintaining relationships with organizations in our network.
- Distribute updated information about HMGLI and other Docs for Tots activities to community partners, both new and old, through periodic partner meetings.
- Arrange programs meetings with the most applicable partnerships.
- Keep HMGLI team connected internally regarding community events and resource updates.
- Collect information about community events and distribute it via social media and Bright by Text.
- Host and/or attend community events such as Books, Balls, and Blocks and diaper drives/drop offs.
- Encourage periodic screening and increasing referrals to HMGLI during partner meetings and events with families.
- Assist with HMGLI family intakes via phone as needed.
- Communicate with parent ambassadors – via email, phone, and e-newsletters.
- Create materials in Canva for posts, fliers and announcements.
- Other assigned tasks to support the HMGLI team
Qualifications
- Excellent public speaking skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
- Exceptional administrative, organizational, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Proven ability to develop community partnerships.
- Strong administrative skills with attention to detail.
- Knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe, Canva
- Social Media experience preferred.
- Access to cell phone and vehicle.
- Fluency in Spanish preferred
15 to 35 hours per week. Mondays and Thursdays in-person at Roslyn office; additional hours with remote and virtual options based on part-time or full-time. Attendance at outreach events as required.
