Job Summary
The Cardiovascular Surgery Advanced Practice Provider (APP) plays a critical role in the management and care of patients undergoing cardiovascular surgical procedures. This position involves collaborating with surgeons and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive pre-operative and post-operative care, ensuring optimal patient outcomes. The APP will be responsible for assessing patient needs, developing treatment plans, and delivering high-quality medical care in a fast-paced environment.
Duties
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including history taking and physical examinations.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans for patients undergoing cardiovascular surgery.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
- Perform triage to prioritize patient needs effectively.
- Administer pain management strategies to enhance patient comfort.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care and optimize patient outcomes.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation of patient encounters.
- Participate in clinical research initiatives related to cardiovascular surgery.
- Assist with specimen collection processing and medical imaging as required.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding surgical procedures and recovery.
Skills
- Proficiency in pain management techniques.
- Strong triage skills to assess urgency of patient needs.
- Knowledge of hospice palliative medicine principles is a plus.
- Familiarity with medical records systems for accurate documentation.
- Experience in ophthalmology is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Competence in medical imaging processes relevant to cardiovascular care.
- Experience administering injections safely and effectively.
- Ability to perform specimen collection processing accurately.
- Proficient in measuring vital signs and interpreting results.
- Interest or experience in clinical research methodologies.
