Are you an Occupational Therapist looking to make a difference in the lives of students with disabilities? We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate professional to join our team at the Doctor Franklin Perkins School, an approved therapeutic day and residential program located on a spacious and beautiful campus in Lancaster, Massachusetts. As an Occupational Therapist for RFK Community Alliance, you will play a pivotal role in helping students with diverse needs to develop essential life skills, achieve independence, and enhance their overall quality of life.
Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive assessments of students' motor, sensory, and functional abilities to identify individual needs and create Individual Education Plan (IEP) goals and objectives.
Implement evidence-based occupational therapy interventions to address students' specific needs and to promote their physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development.
Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other team members to ensure a holistic and coordinated approach to each student's therapeutic journey.
Monitor and document students' progress, adjusting therapeutic supports and interventions as needed to optimize outcomes and meet established goals.
Provide education and coaching to educational staff on strategies to incorporate occupational therapy principles in the classroom setting.
Utilize adaptive equipment and assistive technology to enhance students' participation in daily activities and educational demands.
Engage in ongoing professional learning to stay current with evidence-based occupational therapy and special education practices.
Qualifications:
Massachusetts OTR-L Licensure
Experience working with children and/or adolescents with disabilities, preferably in an educational setting.
Experience aligning occupational therapy goals with academic and/or behavioral objectives.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with team members, families, and other team members who support students.
Empathy, patience, and a positive attitude, coupled with a passion for working with students with emotional and behavioral disabilities.
Flexibility and adaptability to meet the unique dynamics of a therapeutic day school
