POSITION SUMMARY:
The Outpatient LPC/LCSW Therapist is responsible for providing high quality patient care, displaying good skills in completion of psychosocial assessments, group therapy, individual therapy, family therapy, treatment and discharge planning. The Therapist is expected to function as a member of the multidisciplinary team and participate in community relations programs. The LPC/LCSW will provide clinical treatment services to targeted populations who meet criteria for outpatient and or intensive outpatient therapy. The position will work the daylight shift with some evenings and some weekends.
POSITION EDUCATION/ QUALIFICATIONS:
· Licensed by appropriate State Board of Texas as a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Clinical Social Worker and in some cases Licensed Professional Counselor- Interns may be considered
· Masters Degree in psychology, social work, or counseling from an accredited university
· BLS required within 3 months of hire date
· Must be able to be sensitive to cultural and bilingual issues.
· Good written and verbal communication skill required.
· Ability to read, write and speak English
· Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of nursing, administration, and physicians
· Experience in an outpatient setting preferred

JOB KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:
· Three (3) years of experience working with child; adolescent, adult and geriatric psychiatric patients
· Advanced knowledge of psychiatric evaluation and assessment to process, as well as application of the most recent published version of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders required
· Knowledge and experience with suicide risk assessment and safety planning
· Spanish language skills helpful
· Ability to work productively and effectively with minimal need for supervision.

Responsibilities:
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
· (Promotes the facility mission, vision and values by effectively communicating them to others. Considers mission, vision and values in developing services, standards and practices
· Provides clients with a diagnostic assessment and continued treatment and/or referral when applicable
· Documents all assessments, treatment sessions, case management, contact with patients and other work done on behalf of the patients accurately on the same day treatment was provided and/or according to guidelines
· Ability to represent the program well in interactions both inside and outside the counseling center
· Provides required information about the clients according to the confidentiality guidelines
· Provides clinical information to client’s access representative personnel and insurance providers to ensure authorizations for services.
· Completes discharge and safety plans for patients with existing support systems.
· Is cognizant of limits to confidentiality and makes proper reports to outside agencies when required by law
· Maintains required professional liability insurance policy
· Maintains current licensure and renews prior to license becoming expired
· Administers, scores and interprets assessments designed to evaluate client’s mental, emotional, behavioral disorders and strengths.
· Utilizes results from assessments to develop treatment plans and interventional for mental health conditions, emotional needs, substance use/abuse disorders, conduct disorders or any other presenting problem
· All notes/records should be stored according to ethical guidelines
· All documentation should be done in an identified format consistent with ethical guidelines
· Assess the changing needs of clients per guidelines for outpatient and/or intensive outpatient therapy, and incorporates these into treatment plan and treatment plan review.
· Serves as a productive member of the therapy team at the program and implements, improves, and adapts concepts, models and constructs of treatment for application in service delivery to patients.
· Creates an individualized treatment plan that includes an effective continuum of therapeutic, supportive and other services for the clients serviced by the program and updates the treatment every 30 days
· Participates in regular, scheduled meetings to discuss clinical cases, review and update patient treatment plans, monitor therapeutic progress and initiate recommendations for referral and continuing care.
· Accepts assignments of clients with a variety and complexity of needs.
· Understands that clients may be assigned based on specialties, current experience, and training.
· Engages families in the assessment and treatment processes when appropriate.
· Provides education to patients on prognosis, treatment course, diagnosis and interventions
· Provides counseling services by using an integration of theory, human development principles, and methods techniques in order to guide in meeting the treatment goals
· Assists with orientation of new staff members and acts as a senior member of the therapy team as directed.
· Participates in the quality assurance and performance improvement activities of the program
· Marketing initiatives to promote services as directed and approved by marketing team

SUPERVISION AND TRAINING:
· Reviews cases and/or groups periodically with the director and with other clinical personnel as indicated.
· Reviews serious clinical problems and cases with director and informs director of significant changes in clinical condition of patients.
· Collaborates with leadership to complete annual program training needs assessment per guidelines
· Takes a senior role in providing staff in-service training to the professional/therapeutic team, as directed.
· On occasion, assumes supervisory role in the absence of the Director to ensure the care of the patients, the continuity of service delivery and the safety of the patients, staff and community, as instructed.
· Under the guidance of leadership, may conduct supervision of entry level staff or students.

B. Working Conditions: The individual spends over 95% of his/her time in an air-conditioned environment with varying exposures to noise. There is protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. The position does have low exposure to malodorous, infectious body fluids from patients and some minimal exposure to noxious smells from cleansing agents.
C. Occupational Exposure: This position has minimal to no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues and is an OSHA Category III (although situations can be imagined or hypothesized under which anyone, anywhere, might encounter potential exposure to body fluids).
