Summary:
POSITION SUMMARY:
Primary responsibilities include assisting physicians with the completion of medical records.
POSITION EDUCATION/ QUALIFICATIONS :
· High school graduate /GED certificate or equivalent is required.
· Excellent customer service skills required
· Computer skills with knowledge in Microsoft Office suite preferred
· Good written and verbal communication skills required.
· Bilingual – English/Spanish required
· Texas Driver’s License under clear status with the DMV required.
JOB KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE :
· Experience in a hospital Health Information Management Department preferred
· Medical Records deficiency analysis experience is referred
· Thorough knowledge of principles and practices of Medical Record Science preferred
· Knowledge in medical terminology, indexes and classification systems and medicolegal ethics preferred
· Knowledge in the methods involved in collecting and analyzing medical record data preferred.
· Knowledge of pertinent Federal, State and local regulations concerning medical records OSHPD data, and reports vital statistics and diseases preferred.
· Knowledge of the uses and limitations of medical records preferred.
Responsibilities:
POSITION RESPONSIBILITES:
· Analyze all patient record types and appropriately enter deficiencies in EHR
· Train Medical Staff members on the use of Cerner message center to complete deficiencies
· Monitor the delinquent chart count, making every effort to ensure the physicians complete their records timely.
· Appropriately refer any issues to IT and/ or other department for correction
· Clear the refused orders in Cerner
· Communicates weekly with resident Coordinators on the week’s findings, issues, deficiency records
· Monitor and complete On-Hold Queues in Cerner
· Compiles the next day surgery schedule and request previous records for physician to compare results.
· Must comply with all Policies and Procedures including confidentiality of Patient Health Information
· Performs other duties as assigned.

B. Working Conditions: The individual spends over 95% of his/her time in an air-conditioned environment with varying exposures to noise. There is protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. The position does have low exposure to malodorous, infectious body fluids from patients and some minimal exposure to noxious smells from cleansing agents.
C. Occupational Exposure: This position has minimal to no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues and is an OSHA Category III (although situations can be imagined or hypothesized under which anyone, anywhere, might encounter potential exposure to body fluids). Person who performs these duties are not called upon as part of their employment to perform or assist in emergency medical care or first aid or to be potentially exposed in some other way.
