What are the responsibilities and job description for the PHLEBOTOMIST Nights position at Doctors Hospital of Laredo?
JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Successfully performs venipucture on patients from neonates to geriatrics.
- Completes phlebotomy in a timely manner.
- Required to read/review physicians orders prior to performing the venipuncture/exam.
- Follows hospital and departmental procedures regarding patients care, infection control, and National Patient Safety Goals (double identifier).
- Performs sweat chlorides.
- Documents any orders needing clarification.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Medical assistant or phlebotomy certificate preferred.
- BLS is required.
- Knowledge of the various types of needles, anticoagulant, special handling, and preparation of test that are to be performed.
- On the job training or vocational school training required.
- Requires the ability to read and write to follow written and oral instructions.
- Excellent people skills and communication skills.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
