Job brief
We are looking for an Office Assistant to work in our Billing/Insurance department. This position will also cross train to be able to help manage our front desk for short periods and to perform a variety of technical and clerical tasks.
Hours: Full-time/Part-time. This is generally a 8-5 position but some adjustments could be made around school hours. A few evening hours are also available.
$15/hour during trial period (60 days). Pay is BOE following the trial period. Bi-lingual speakers are encouraged to apply.

What does a Billing Specialist do?
As a Billing Specialist you will be expected to submit claims to insurance companies, track and send invoices, follow-up on missing claims, keep clean records and reports, learn how to verify insurance benefits and work with patients explaining benefits, plus more. You will be working directly with management.
To find success in this position, you should have a calm demeanor and be detail oriented. Be able to learn quickly and be able to follow detailed instructions. The rules of the insurance world do change time to time and to be successful you will need to be able to adapt to change and problem solve.
What does a Receptionist do?
As a Receptionist, you will often be the first point of contact for patients, doctors, and insurance companies. You will welcome patients and greet people who visit the clinic. You will also coordinate front-desk activities, including answering and making phone calls, sending and receiving faxes, patient management, collecting payments, plus more.
To be successful as a Receptionist, you should have a pleasant personality, as this is also a customer service role. You should also be able to deal with emergencies in a timely and effective manner, while streamlining office operations. Multitasking and stress management skills are essential for this position.
Ultimately, a Receptionist’s duties and responsibilities are to ensure the front desk welcomes guests positively and executes all administrative tasks to the highest quality standards.
Responsibilities Include but not Limited to:
· Practice clean and ethical billing standards received in training
· Answer incoming phone calls. Make phone calls to patients and insurance companies.
· Keep accurate and detailed records of patients accounts.
· Provide basic and accurate information in-person and via phone/email
· Receive and sort daily email/faxes
· Contact Insurance companies and follow-up on missing claims.
· Update calendars and schedule appointments (when needed)
· Perform other clerical receptionist duties such as filing, photocopying, transcribing and faxing
· Assist in cleaning your work space
· Communicate professionally with other office staff both written and oral communication.
· Follow-up on previous assignments and provide reports on these assignments.
Requirements
· Proven work experience in billing and office management—welcome but not required.
· Experienced with computer (windows), typing and smart phone skills
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, and Excel
· Hands-on experience with office equipment (e.g. fax machines and printers)
· Professional attitude and appearance
· Strong written and verbal communication skills
· Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise
· Excellent organizational skills
· Multitasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks
· Customer service attitude
