Pay Range: $18.55 Hourly - 200 days a year

The ESOL Interventionist Paraprofessional serves as part of the instructional team to assist English Learners, who are at the speech emergence stage of language acquisition or lower, in small groups or one-on-one with educational and instructional activities.

You must have 48 college credits or State of Kansas Paraprofessional Certification to qualify for this position!If you do not have 48 college credits, the parapro assessment is available through the Human Resources Office. If you are interested in taking the parapro assessment, please contact the Human Resources Office at 620-371-1004 for more information.

  • Associates Degree preferred.
  • Minimum 48 hours of college credit hours and working toward teaching degree preferred or High School diploma and successful completion of the Para Pro Praxis Test.
  • Operate all equipment related to specific instructional duties, including computers with various software applications appropriate for students.
  • The ability to follow written and spoken instructions without close supervision
  • Commitment and discretion to maintain confidentiality
  • Bilingual skills preferred (English/Spanish).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of children’s needs, growth and development
  • Direct experience working with children in a group setting
  • Requires patience to work with numerous interruptions.

Essential Functions

Assist students with academic comprehension, reading, language acquisition, and numeracy, in small groups or one-on-one.

Prepare materials for educational activities.

Provide instructional support services that occasionally require self-direction and decision making skills.

Communicate effectively with students and staff; contact with community patrons may be required.

Organize and file student documents so they are readily available ? Support the value of an education.

Support the philosophy and mission of USD 443.

Be able to react to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned.

Some clerical work

General Responsibilities

Relate well with children.

Carry out the educational programs developed through the Individual Learning Plan (ILP), perform daily activities using specific materials/methods and/or material modifications codesigned by Interventionist and general teacher

Document services provided to students related to ILP objectives.

Communicate in an effective manner with staff, students, and/or the general public.

Answer General Questions About Department, Building And District Operations.

Operate all equipment related to specific instructional duties, including computers with various software applications appropriate for the position.

Must be able to screen, monitor, and evaluate students for academic purposes using different assessment tools.

Organize and maintain an efficient filing system for student work, materials and documents.

Observe district policies and guidelines in all job responsibilities.

Respond to change in a positive and productive manner.
