Reports To : Associate Superintendent of Human Resources
PURPOSE : Under general supervision, the Human Resources Specialist is responsible for assisting with the hiring and onboarding processes, facilitating salary enhancement, and maintaining personnel files regarding compliance with federal, state and local regulations and established Board policies.
EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS :
Education :
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Associates degree preferred.
- Equivalent relevant work experience may be substituted for education.
Experience :
Three years' relevant work history strongly preferred.Experience with a variety of databases and computer software applications such as Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, Alio, and Filemaker.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES :
Ability to produce reports applicable to the position and to operate without close supervision.Ability to maintain confidentiality and display professional demeanor at all times.Ability to draft professional communication to stakeholders. Bilingual abilities are a plus.Knowledge of applicable laws, policies and procedures.Ability to problem solve and effectively communicate solutions.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :
Welcome visitors and answer Human Resources phone calls.Facilitate salary enhancement by compiling and verifying information submitted for certified and classified personnel and relay this information to payroll.Communicate with teachers and principals regarding mentor requirements.Manage master list of mentors / mentees and submit information to KSDE.Assist with teacher licensure verification.Apply composition and proofreading skills in producing clear, accurate, and fact-based memos, letters, reports, and other documents for appropriate stakeholders.Use effective written and oral communication skills to convey essential information to students, staff, administrators, and a variety of community patrons.Assist applicants with the online application process using applicant portal.Arrange and monitor paraprofessional assessments.Complete Employment Verification forms.Provide backup support and assistance for other positions in HR and District Office.Manage Human Resources incoming and outgoing mail.Assist in reviewing and revising various handbooks and employment forms.Handle incoming and outgoing mail.Manage monthly newsletter.Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the HR Director or other appropriate administrator.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT :
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk and hear.The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and reach with hands and arms.The employee must regularly lift and / or move up to 50 pounds.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.The work environment is in an office setting.The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
