To ensure the efficient and effective operation of the media center by organizing, cataloging and managing multimedia resources, while also providing excellent customer service to students and staff. |
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES |
Essential Functions:1. Knowledge, Skill and Abilities a. Assist with the efficient operation of the Media Center. b. Ensure that all activities conform to district guidelines. c. Communicate effectively with all members of the school district and community. d. React to change productively and handle tasks as assigned. e. Correctly operate all equipment as required. f. Support the value of an education. g. Support the philosophy and mission of Derby Public Schools. h. Comply with all district policies, rules and regulations. 2. Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:a. Requires the ability to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods. b. Occasionally requires the ability to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials. c. Occasionally requires the ability to stoop, bend, and reach. d. Must be able to work in noisy and crowded environments. e. Requires regular attendance and/or physical presence at the job. General Responsibilities:1. Assist the media specialist in any library duties 2. Check in/out books, text books and materials as needed. 3. Repair books and other media center materials as directed by media specialist. 4. Develop working knowledge of Public School's Online Library Catalog computer program. 5. Assist with book and materials inventory. 6. Supervise students as directed by media specialist and/or principal. 7. Assist the media specialist in facilitating repair and technical assistance with student devices. 8. Maintain an environment that is conducive to active and participatory learning, resource based-instructional practices, and collaboration with teaching staff. 9. Model and encourage the use of instructional technology to engage students and ensure equitable access to information. 10. Empower students to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic learners, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information. 11. Keep abreast of new information, innovative ideas and techniques. 12. Adhere to all district health and safety policies. 13. Other duties as assigned by the media specialist or principal, which are consistent with the general requirements and qualifications of the position. |
