Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs tasks related to food safety and sanitation, meal production, storage, meal service, and food quality. Follows all written and verbal instructions as set forth by the School Nutrition Manager or designee.
Cooperates with all stakeholders to make the School Nutrition Program a part of the total educational experience for children.
Follows all federal, state, and local policies and procedures related to the School Nutrition Program. Displays a positive attitude, spreads enthusiasm, and enjoys serving people.
Participates in professional learning opportunities.
Performs any other additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty.
Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or GED preferred. Food service experience preferred. Certificate or License Required: Completion of Orientation for New Employees (ONE) required within one year of employment.
Language Skills: Must have ability to read and comprehend simple instructions. Follows written and verbal instructions. Must be able to follow and read standardized recipes, safety rules, and equipment operating and maintenance instructions. Communicates effectively with a vast range of people.
Mathematical Skills: Must have ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure. Must be able to extend standardized recipes when needed.
Reasoning Ability:Must have ability to facilitate the problem solving process, synthesize workable options from given facts, and assist in the development of a workable solution to address concerns.
Customer Service Skills: Must be capable of interacting effectively with administrators, teachers, staff members, students, parents, and the general public using tactful and helpful customer service.
Work Environment:
The noise level is high, the temperature ranges from -20 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit, and the humidity level ranges from moderate to very humid. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, extreme cold, and extreme heat. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electric shock.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, and lift on hard concrete or tile surfaces. The employee must be able to exert or lift up to 50 pounds. The employee must be able to withstand extreme ranges in temperature and humidity levels for long periods of time, and be able to work while standing on hard surfaces for long periods of time. essential functions. Visual awareness is required to ensure food safety and for observing general surroundings and activities.
