Status : Part-time, Non-Exempt
Starting Wage : $17.82 / hr. (wage effective 01 / 01 / 2025)
Part-time : Less than 20 hours per week. Hours vary based on needs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Perform vehicle patrol within the jurisdiction of the Sheriff's Office for the detection of correctable community issues / challenges.
- Responds to all requests for assistance from public as necessary and within scope of training, ability, and authority.
- Respond to and resolve, or request appropriate resources to resolve, non-emergency law enforcement incidents.
- Determines if violations of law or ordinance have occurred and report and assist as directed by supervisor(s).
- Conduct interviews with citizens regarding requests for law enforcement service.
- Issue warning notices and citations for minor violations and within authority as a non-sworn officer.
- Prepare and maintain accurate, timely reports of all activities and as directed by supervisor.
- Develops positive relationships with members of the public through courteous, productive, professional personal interaction.
- Direct traffic and assist with crowd control at traffic accidents, fire incidents, special events and all other similar.
- Assist stranded motorists as directed and assigned.
- Facilitate and assist sworn staff at motor vehicle crashes; facilitate exchange of driver information at minor traffic crashes.
- Makes public appearances / give tours and presents relevant and assigned information regarding Sheriff's Office and its programs.
- Attends training as required.
- Maintains a professional attitude and appearance.
- Understands and follows the mission and vision statement of the Sheriff's Office.
- Works with deputies to facilitate the Dodge County Law Enforcement Explorer Post and Sheriff Citizen Academy.
- Performs other related duties, while adhering to work rules governing non-sworn staff, as assigned by Sheriff or designee.
- Regular attendance and punctuality required.

Education
High School of Education (required)
Experience
Must pass written and / or oral and physical examinations as required by the Sheriff's Office. (preferred)
Must be 18 years of age, and be enrolled or show that actively pursuing enrollment (unless has graduated from) post-high school education program in a field related to Criminal Justice. Equivalent combination of education and experience which provides necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered. (required)
