Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced IT Solution Architect to join our IT Development team. This on-site role is critical to supporting our manufacturing facilities and business functions by designing, integrating, and implementing software solutions across all areas of the company. The Solution Architect will be responsible for aligning IT architecture with business goals, collaborating across departments, and delivering scalable, secure, and efficient technical solutions.
This role combines hands-on technical skills with strong communication and leadership, enabling the successful candidate to influence business outcomes while ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture standards and compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Architectural Design & Strategy
- Design end-to-end software and systems architecture that meets performance, scalability, and maintainability goals.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions and evaluate existing systems to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Document architectural standards and maintain system documentation for reference and governance.
Technical Leadership & Integration
- Serve as a technical expert and make informed decisions on system architecture, frameworks, and tools.
- Stay current with emerging technologies, software development trends, and best practices.
- Oversee and support the integration of new solutions with legacy systems and infrastructure.
- Ensure all solutions comply with RBC corporate security and IT standards.
Collaboration & Implementation
- Work closely with developers, business analysts, and business process owners to translate requirements into functional and technical designs.
- Lead or assist in solution implementations and ensure seamless integration into existing systems.
- Support cross-functional projects and provide technical guidance during planning and execution.
- Communicate architectural concepts and progress to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Process & Continuous Improvement
- Identify and recommend opportunities for business process enhancements using IT solutions.
- Document testing requirements and ensure solutions are thoroughly validated before deployment.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure IT systems meet operational, compliance, and strategic needs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
- 2–5 years of experience in solution architecture, systems design, or full-stack development
- Experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale solutions
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to convey complex technical topics to a broad audience
Preferred Technical Skills:
- Full-stack development with an emphasis on React UI
- Experience with one or more of the following:
- SAP
- Microsoft .NET & C#
- Visual Basic
- PowerShell, Python, Java, JavaScript
- Familiarity with Office 365 tools (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, SharePoint)
- Experience supporting ERP and enterprise software systems
- Knowledge of system integration, testing frameworks, and architectural design patterns
Physical Requirements:
- Extended periods of sitting or standing at a computer workstation
- Speaking and listening in person, on the phone, or via Teams for extended periods
- Reaching, typing, grasping, and occasionally lifting or carrying objects under 10 lbs.
- Occasional travel to manufacturing plants to support IT solutions and implementations
