Summary of Job Purpose
The Summer Trail Crew position will assist in the successful completion of the daily work plan for summer slope grooming. Trail maintenance is physical labor. It involves working with hand tools, outside, in a mountain environment and getting dirty is guaranteed. Summer Trail Maintenance also involves riding the trails to determine what repairs are needed but only after a skills evaluation has been completed by a supervisor. When you are not maintaining the trail you will assist other departments as needed. This is a hands-on position, which consists of a multitude of duties including; hiking, shoveling, brush cutting, raking, firewood cutting, tree trimming, drilling, and maintaining the Mountain Operations department equipment. Work conditions will include steep and variable terrain and this is a physically demanding role. This position may also assist with summer lift evacuations as needed including hiking, climbing ladders and use of rescue rope. The Summer Trail Crew position will be responsible for practicing safety throughout each and every day.

- Perform trail building and maintenance work
- Perform re-vegetation work
- Be on time; ready and willing to work hard
- Be available to work bike park related events.
- Trail signage installation and maintenance
- Assist with ongoing mountain trash cleanup efforts.
- Monitor weather for cutting and equipment operations
- Ability to take direction from the trail crew supervisors
- Assist patrol with any extractions from the trail system.
- Riding on the clock prohibited without skills evaluation
- Assist if needed with Dodge Ridge events not related to bike park operations.
- Perform general maintenance to any equipment used related to the bike park
- Assist in any other operations requested by the Terrain Park / Bike Park Manager
- Demonstrate a positive attitude toward the workplace, co-workers, and supervisors.
- Assist in any other operations requested by the Director of Mountain Operations.
- Follow all outlined safety rules and demonstrate high standards for personal and team safety.
- Use hand tools such as Pulaski, shovel, mattox, grub hoe and rock bars to repair and maintain trails of rock and dirt
- Ability to perform strenuous physical activities in steep terrain for extended periods of time in adverse weather conditions and exposure to insects.
Job Qualifications
- Good physical condition, able to ride a mountain bike at Intermediate to Advanced level on technical and freeride trails
- Able to work at heights
- Dependable, punctual, energetic and self motivated.
- Must consider courtesy and safety high priorities.
- Ability to read, write legibly and to use good composition skills to complete records/report forms
- Be technically and mechanically minded, with strong communication skills.
- Will be required at times to do heavy, awkward lifting, (up to 100lbs.-with assistance).
- Ability to work in variable conditions; fast-pace, high-stress & noise pollution needing hearing protection.
- Possess ability to learn with knowledge of equipment needs, standard procedures for care & safe operation.
- Good physical condition requires standing for long periods of time and working on uneven and steep terrain.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and meet the Motor Vehicle Record qualifications as outlined in the Fleet Safety Program.

Work Schedules
Weather conditions and the number of guests play a large role in the work scheduling of Dodge Ridge employees. When conditions are normal, you will be expected to work five to six days a week. During busy periods, you may be expected to work seven days a week.
You must arrange for transportation to work so that you arrive at your designated workstation at the scheduled time.
Working Conditions
At any time during the season, Dodge Ridge employees must often perform their tasks in variable weather conditions, high winds, rain, snow, and extremely warm temperatures.
Work is typically inside working directly with resort guests and other resort staff members. During summer operations it can be noisy, cold, hot, dry, or humid. You may be expected to work in warm places and often you will work around hot and cold objects.
Uniforms
A professional appearance at Dodge Ridge is required. It is expected that a name tag and uniform are worn during your scheduled shift. We will provide most of the uniform for you to do your job. However, you will be required to provide some items as part of your job. The quality, color, and style of the items must be approved by your manager prior to being worn to work. All hats worn must have the Dodge Ridge logo while on shift.
Approved Routes for Mountain Biking
I understand that the approved routes for riding for work purposes will be within the bike area boundary. Any out of bounds biking must be approved by the patrol director. Out of bounds riding would encompass backcountry orientation for search and rescue missions and would be documented as such training.

The riding employee represents a model for safe riding for both the guest and fellow employees. You are required to be aware of all safe riding procedures, trail closures, and out-of-bounds policies.
