The Mergers & Acquisitions Strategic Advisory practice within our Financial Institutions Group is seeking an experienced Senior Associate with 3-7 years of relevant experience to join our Troy, Michigan office.
This is a small, growing team focused on advising financial institutions and their subsidiaries on mergers and acquisitions. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to be involved in all aspects of the M&A process with the ability to develop and advance within a fast-growing M&A practice.
Responsibilities:
- Support all aspects of M&A transactions and strategic advisory engagements
- Take ownership of financial modeling, creation of presentations, research, due diligence and other tasks as necessary
- Build, update and maintain detailed financial models
- Prepare confidential investment memorandums, financial analysis, presentations / reports, and recommendations throughout the deal process
- Conduct industry, market and economic research
- Ensure high-quality deliverables for internal and external end-users
- Work with firm leadership to support and lead various aspects of client engagements including deliverables, meetings and day-to-day operations
- Ability to participate in business development and marketing activities
Qualifications:
- Financial institutions experience (credit union, bank, private lender and/or other financial institution) is required
- Bachelor’s degree in finance and/or accounting or related degree
- 3-7 years of financial / investment analysis or dynamic accounting experience
- Strong familiarity with financial institution accounting and finance
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and MS Office applications
- Superior financial analysis and Excel skills with the ability to create an in-depth financial model from scratch and produce a client ready deliverable
- Excellent writing, presentation and research abilities with ability to create a PowerPoint presentation from scratch and produce a client ready deliverable
- Ability to work well in a small team as well as independently
- Earned or pursuing advanced certifications such as CFA, CPA, CVA and/or ASA
