Summary
Inspects raw material and components, manufactured parts, subassemblies, assemblies and finished products to ensure conformance to customer specifications and regulatory requirements, where applicable. Works within and supports the structure of the Quality Management System, with a clear understanding of its requirements.
Essential Functions
- Tests and inspects products at various stages of production process and compiles and evaluates statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products.
- Interprets engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, or formulas and confers with management or engineering staff to determine quality and reliability standards.
- Assists with / develops inspection plans in concert with manufacturing plan.
- Selects products for tests at specified stages in production process, and tests products for variety of qualities, such as dimensions, performance, and mechanical, electrical, or chemical characteristics.
- Records test data, applying statistical quality control procedures as required.
- Evaluates data and writes reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
- Recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.
- Compare assembly with parts list to detect missing hardware.
- Examine production documents to ensure that all assembly, inspecting, and testing steps were performed according to specifications.
- Complete documentation needed to support testing procedures.
- Inspect items and parts with calipers, gauges, micrometers, and other devices as may be required.
- Initiate / complete corrective actions as may be required.
- Attach properley completed hold / condition tags to suspect / nonconforming items and ensure their segregation / quarentine.
- Conduct / assist in presentation of nonconforming product findings / resolutions to MRB and customer, as needed.
- Perform first piece, first part, final and in-process inspections as may be required.
- Perform administrative tasks and problem solving of a highly complex and confidential nature requiring discretion and exercise independent judgment.
- Work with Manufacturing Engineers to develop a process for inspection.
- Additional work hours (overtime) as required.
- Additional duties as assigned.

Preferred
21. Experience in a mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and / or automation engineering environment to build knowledge of various parts requests.
22. Knowledge of set-up and use of coordinate measuring machines (CMM) equipment.
23. Experience with weld inspection processes.
