Job Summary
Experienced Autobody Paint/ Prepper needed for preparing cars for paintwork. Typical duties include sanding vehicles, taping and edging vehicles and cleaning cars before the paint process begins. Prepare cars for refinish sanding, buffing, polish, and masking. Use of hand and electric tools. Use of hand and electric tools, helping the painter, when necessary. Light cut as well if necessary.

Experienced Autobody Paint/ Prepper needed for preparing cars for paintwork. Typical duties include sanding vehicles, taping and edging vehicles and cleaning cars before the paint process begins. Prepare cars for refinish sanding, buffing, polish, and masking. Use of hand and electric tools. Use of hand and electric tools, helping the painter, when necessary. Light cut as well if necessary.
Essential Functions
- Prepare vehicles for painting – masking, sanding, primer application etc.
- Remove rust and other debris from surfaces to be painted
- Use various tools to prepare surfaces for painting
- Mix paint to the right color and consistency
- Apply primer and finish coats using spray guns and rub down surfaces between coats
- Touch up paintwork and apply polish to vehicles
- Remove masking paper, waxing and polishing finished paintwork
- Maintain all paint preparation equipment and tools
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures
Qualifications
High school graduate preferred
Must have a valid state driver's license
Technical knowledge and experience preferred
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Intermediate user of Excel, Word and Outlook
Advanced knowledge of PowerPoint or equivalent
Must have a solid background in proper diagnostic procedures
Must be self-motivated and a self-starter
Ability to work well with internal and external customers
Must be able to accomplish all requirements with minimal supervision
Typical Physical Activity
While performing the duties of this job, the employee must have the ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds from floor to chest; reach and use the arms with a full range of motion; endure prolonged standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and squatting while performing mechanical operations; exert push and pull forces with the arms in order to use various wrenches and tools; endure prolonged forward and overhead arm positions while performing mechanical operations; use hands to grasp hand tools and parts and climb onto and operate equipment.
