Shift Leader Job Posting:
Dogtopia, the industry leader in dog daycare, boarding, and spa services has an immediate opening for an energetic, organized, professional individual to join and lead our team as Shift Leader at the Louisville location. This is a key role within our business and we work hard to deliver top customer service and ensure a great environment for the dogs in our care. Shift Leader’s must meet the following requirements, demonstrate symbolic leadership as well as outstanding customer service both internally and externally. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Create effective daily room schedule
- Excellent communication – verbal and written, with team members, customers, and management
- Record accurately health and behavioral notes in daily activity log and communicate to all team and management
- Assure dogs are taken to appropriate playroom based on size and temperament and correct dogs retrieved to go home
- Assure grooming and spa dogs are returned to rooms promptly or front desk knows owners can be called
- Prepare lunches, feedings, administer all medications and special needs lists based on parent’s requests
- Maintains confidentiality in Dogtopia practices and all aspects of the business
- Assure all Playgroups are safe:
- Walk-throughs of playrooms, yards, meal preparation areas, holding areas, unfinished space and hallways to assure all are safely maintained and free of hazards
- Assuring playroom team member has group at a safe level of play. Help them with resolutions to playroom behavior concerns
- Monitoring of whiteboards to assure they are accurate in all information
- Update behavior lists (crate at door, rotate with, ….etc)
- The environment of play (yard or playroom) is safe of anything that could harm the dogs (nothing dogs can reach while crated, fence boards tightly secured, sharp edges or broken crates removed, cleaning chemicals away from dog’s reach).
- Chemicals are stored properly
- Equipment checked for proper operations (dehumidifiers, hoses, mop buckets …etc)
- Constant assessment of safety risks for dogs and team
- Positively train team members on proper playroom management as well as correct cleaning procedures. Coach them to higher standards and hold them accountable to improve when they fall short via conversations and verbal and written warnings when necessary
- Utilizes training opportunities for the team such as dog injuries, billing issues, or customer complaints
- Actively communicates team developmental needs and issues to management to ensure growth
- Once room is crated review playroom notes with attendant, add any additional notes needed and highlight areas for KC entry then collect report cards from each attendant (and work with them on best report card practices)
- Assign duties such as extra cleaning and follow up to assure the task has been completed to standards
- Inventory management of cleaning, dog and 1st aid supplies.
- Manage staffing hours by notifying management when all tasks are complete and team is no longer needed. Taking the initiative to cutting those staff if management is not available.
- Give owners feedback on their dog’s day (smile, story) and knowledgably answer owner’s questions
- Assure playgroups look fun and inviting. Additionally, that owners can see their dogs are well cared for (team is on camera and staying engaged with the dogs they are attending)

- Ability to manage & motivate a variety of people
- Sales and marketing experience
- Crisis management experience is a plus

Compensation
- Hourly rate 12.00 -13.00 per hour
- PTO will be available to all full-time employees after 6 months.
