Position Summary:
The Assistant Controller assists with monitoring the financial health of the Bank by performing a variety of administrative, organizational, and analytical tasks. Under the direction of the Controller this position prepares financial reports, including month end regulatory reporting and/or other financial activities within the Bank.
Key Responsibilities:
- Examines and analyzes accounting and financial records, documents, and systems to ensure accuracy and compliance with established accounting standards, procedures, internal controls, and generally accepted accounting principles.
- Develops, implements, and adheres to accounting policies and procedures to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Assists with management of day-to-day accounting tasks as needed including reconciliations, liquidity management, journal entries, and other processes, as necessary.
- Oversees the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger, ensuring proper posting of transactions and account reconciliations.
- Assists external and internal auditors with the audit process by providing necessary documentation and support.
- Works with the Controller to ensure accurate and timely month end closing and reporting.
- Adheres specifically to all Bank policies and procedures, Federal and State regulations, and laws.
- Performs ad hoc analysis and projects as requested and other duties as assigned by Controller.
Requirements
General Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5-7 years experience in accounting or finance.
- Experience with financial statement preparation.
- Proficient in MS Office products, specifically Excel, and accounting software programs. Prologue is a plus but not necessary.
- Expert knowledge of accounting and financial principles, regulations, and best practices.
- Highly organized with keen attention to detail.
- Able to handle confidential information appropriately.
- Ability to work in a growing environment with team members across different departments.
Physical and Mental Demands:
Vision, hearing, speech, movements requiring the use of wrists, hands and/or fingers. Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, bend and lift upto 50 pounds. Must have the ability to work the days and hours required to fulfill the essential functions of the position. Quick thinking, adaptability, and exercise discretion when necessary.
