Position Summary
The floating teller performs over-the-counter banking transactions with precision, efficiency, and promptness. The floating teller travels to branches within a specified territory. This position presents the Bank’s products and services to new and existing customers; communicates with customers to get an understanding of their banking needs and creates an opportunity to promote additional banking products/services; delivers superior service to maximize sales, customer satisfaction and retention; generates referrals that result in sales for the Bank; and accurately balances a cash drawer and shows responsibility in handling cash and Bank securities on a daily basis.
Key Responsibilities
- Processing transactions: Processing deposits, withdrawals, checks, loan payments, and other financial transactions in accordance with Bank productivity standards.
- Maintaining cash: Ordering cash, counting incoming cash, and turning in excess or mutilated cash.
- Balancing cash: Preparing daily settlements of teller cash and transactions.
- Reporting: Reporting pertinent information to the immediate supervisor.
- Training: Actively engaging in ongoing compliance training and procedure review.
- Following procedures: Adhering to all required security procedures and policies, including guidelines for preventing fraud and robbery.
- Assists customer requests for exchange transactions, currency/coin, foreign currency, traveler’s checks, executing bond sales, bond redemptions, cash advances, and safe deposit box visits.
- Submits customer items for processing.
- Accepts payments for loans, safe deposits and verifies payments dates and amount dues.
- Manages vault balancing, buying, or selling cash to FED.
- Answers questions or refers customer questions to the appropriate department.
- Has responsibility for following regulatory requirements including those pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Customer Identification Program (CIP), and OFAC to assist in the identification, detection and determent of money laundering or other unlawful activities.
Requirements
General Qualifications
- Must have a valid driver's license of the state in which they reside.
- Proficiency with Windows-based computer systems and Jack Henry or similar platforms will be beneficial.
- Flexible schedule allowing short notice travel and reliable transportation.
- Must be a high school graduate or equivalent will be required.
- A minimum of 1 year teller experience or similar customer service experience will be beneficial.
- Bank operations exposure would be an asset in understanding why procedures are required.
- Strong math skills required and the ability to balance transactions and utilize strategies for balancing transactions is essential.
- Must have the ability to communicate effectively with customers, employees, and management.
Physical & Mental Demands
Vision, hearing, speech, movements requiring the use of wrists, hands and/or fingers. Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, bend and lift up to 50 pounds. Must have the ability to work the days and hours required to fulfill the essential functions of the position. Quick thinking, adaptability and exercise discretion when necessary.
