Position Summary
The Wire Transfer Specialist will perform a variety of duties related to wire transfers and provide support to Deposit Operations Management, including reviewing, processing, and updating daily work. Provides guidance to branches and internal departments with routine to moderately complex inquiries. An initiative and accuracy are required, as well as an understanding of regulatory requirements and risk operations to minimize potential loss. The candidate must be able to perform duties independently with minimal managerial oversight.
Key Responsibilities
- Creates, verifies, and receives all domestic and foreign wire transfers for processing according to instructions and within established deadlines, policies, procedures, and authorization limits; reviews transactions for OFAC compliance; ensures the appropriate account has sufficient available funds for outgoing wire transfer requests; credits the appropriate account for incoming wire transfer requests.
- Processes all incoming/outgoing correspondent bank wire transfer requests.
- Apprises the Controller when the correspondent bank’s available balance drops below $100K.
- Apprises the Controller regarding incoming/outgoing wires exceeding $1MM to assist in maintaining the bank's liquidity.
- Provides support for wire transfer research requests, which may include returns, disputes, or suspicious activity.
- Provides a full range of professional, technical, and general support to ank personnel regarding the proper execution of wire transfer transactions.
- Reviews new/modified Repetitive Funds Transfer Authorizations and Agreements for completeness and accuracy.
- Uploads repetitive fund transfer authorizations and agreements to the departmental drive.
- Performs document administration tasks to file, save, image, and audit documents.
- Enrolls customers for wire transfer notifications, as requested.
- Balances wire platforms and correspondent Bank at the end of day.
- Assures compliance with all Bank policies, procedures and processes, and all applicable state and federal banking laws, rules, and regulations, and adheres to Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) responsibilities that are specific to the position.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
General Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent is required, Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- 1–5 years’ experience in a financial institution, preferably in a problem-solving, customer service-based role or operational services area.
- Basic knowledge of accounting, balancing principles, and bank operations.
- Knowledge and thorough understanding of financial terminology, bank operations, policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Knowledge and experience with Jack Henry products. Familiarity with federal and state banking regulations, including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act, USA Patriot Act, and Electronic Funds Transfer Act, is preferred.
- Knowledge and experience with Jack Henry products are preferred.
- Foreign wire experience preferred.
- Demonstrates technology skills, including intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Detail-oriented to ensure accuracy in operational transactions, detect errors, and follow through with corrective action. Must have the ability to embrace change.
- Ability to research, resolve problems, and meet deadlines.
Physical & Mental Demands
Vision, hearing, speech, movements require the use of wrists, hands and/or fingers. Must be able to sit, stand, stop, bend and lift up to 50 pounds. Must have the ability to work the days and hours required to fulfill the essential functions of the position. Quick thinking, adaptability and exercise discretion when necessary.
