We are seeking a Tooling Engineer to design, develop, and optimize tools, molds, and fixtures for the plastics manufacturing operations near Yorkville, IL. This role requires a strong background in CAD software and hands-on experience in injection molding, CNC machining, and casting. The ideal candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve tooling performance, reduce costs, and enhance manufacturing efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop tooling, molds, and fixtures
- Oversee tooling modifications, repairs, and new tool development to meet production and quality standards.
- Analyze and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and engineering specifications to ensure precision in design.
- Troubleshoot tooling issues and implement solutions to optimize performance, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, production, and maintenance teams to support tooling projects.
- Conduct tooling validation and testing to ensure compliance with industry standards and company requirements.
- Work with vendors and suppliers to source materials and tooling components.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance tooling longevity and performance.
What you will need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in tooling design for plastics manufacturing.
- Proficiency in CAD software for tool and mold design.
- Strong understanding of injection molding, CNC machining, and casting processes.
- Experience with blueprint reading, and technical drawing interpretation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for troubleshooting tooling issues.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and manage multiple projects.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with tooling cost analysis and optimization.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
- Knowledge of material selection for tooling applications.
