Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Japanese cuisine, particularly in sushi preparation and presentation. As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for creating high-quality sushi dishes that meet our restaurant's standards and delight our customers. You will work in a fast-paced kitchen environment, collaborating with other chefs and kitchen staff to ensure efficient operations.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and present sushi dishes according to restaurant recipes and standards.
- Select and source high-quality ingredients, ensuring freshness and quality in all dishes.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station and kitchen area.
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to plan menus and create new sushi offerings.
- Ensure proper food handling techniques are followed to maintain food safety standards.
- Assist in catering events as needed, preparing sushi platters for large gatherings.
- Train and mentor junior kitchen staff on sushi preparation techniques and food safety practices.
- Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and supplies, placing orders as necessary.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar role within the food industry.
- Strong knowledge of Japanese cuisine, particularly sushi-making techniques.
- Familiarity with food handling regulations and best practices in a restaurant setting.
- Proficiency with kitchen tools, including knives and other sushi preparation equipment.
- Experience in menu planning and catering is highly desirable.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
