JOB SUMMARY
The Compensation Specialist is responsible for implementing and assisting in the compensation administration processes for all Dolese employees. This role will analyze positions to understand an employee’s scope of responsibilities, review compensation data to ensure competitive pay, manage salary structures, and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Prepare and maintain job descriptions for each position in the organization; ensure descriptions accurately reflect the work being performed by incumbents
  • Assess jobs and their respective duties to determine FLSA exemption status
  • Develop career ladders to help employees identify a clear path for progression; review them regularly and make any necessary changes
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state laws, including reporting requirements
  • Coordinate and participate in compensation surveys to ensure the organization’s compensation objectives are achieved
  • Benchmark jobs against survey data and other market intelligence to determine competitive compensation ranges for each position
  • Gather data from market-based compensation surveys; use spreadsheet and data analysis techniques to assess results and market trends
  • Prepare summary reports of job analysis and compensation analysis information
  • Present compensation recommendations to management and justify these suggestions with data
  • Work closely with HR to identify and address compensation issues, including compensation-related assessments, recommendations, and support
  • Partner with HRIS to ensure the HCM system supports current compensation programs, assist with report generation to support business needs, and consult on system enhancements to improve compensation processes and administration
  • Contribute to the administration of compensation programs, including the annual salary planning process, incentive process, and annual market review
  • Assist with content development and training of compensation programs and practices to HR partners and managers
  • Maintain pay structure, pay grades, and pay guidelines
  • Review and revise compensation policies and procedures as necessary
  • Other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or related field required
  • At least 3 years of work experience in compensation administration required
  • Experience interacting, advising, and communicating effectively required
  • Experience using HR information systems required; preferably Workday
  • PHR, SHRM-CP, or CCP designation preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong analytical and quantitative reasoning skills with the ability to create complex reports and spreadsheets for analyzing compensation data, ensuring equitable and competitive employee compensation
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a focus on high accuracy for managing and coordinating compensation calculations, data analysis, and reporting
  • Familiarity with compensation-related regulations and laws to ensure compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements
  • Solid understanding of standard concepts, practices, and procedures in the compensation field including, but not limited to, benchmarking and compensation surveys
  • Solid understanding of job evaluation and job classification processes
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with HR personnel, managers, and employees, and for effectively explaining compensation policies and procedures
  • Proficiency in using HR information systems, Excel, PowerPoint, and other software tools for data analysis and presentation
  • Problem-solving skills to address and resolve any compensation-related issues or discrepancies
  • Ability to demonstrate a strong customer-service orientation in a team environment
  • Ability to research and resolve a variety of issues while leveraging available resources
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to set priorities and effectively manage multiple assignments
  • Ability to maintain sensitive data in a confidential manner
  • Ability to work with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work proactively with minimal guidance, while exercising proper judgment and sound decision making
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, nights, and weekends as needed
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Lift, push, or pull objects of various dimensions up to 30 lbs. of weight frequently
  • Ability to perform 80% sedentary work and tolerate prolonged standing/sitting/walking
  • Ability to repeatedly balance, bend from the trunk, crawl, kneel, push and pull objects
  • Ability to verbally communicate, hear, and see
