Fleet Maintenance Manager Job Description
This role oversees equipment maintenance and repair on trucks, trailers, liftgates, yard trucks, and refrigeration units, ensuring efficient and safe fleet operation.
Main Responsibilities
- Metrics & Financials: Direct the work of fleet repair mechanics to maintain safety, quality, and productivity standards while following Company SOPs. Manage daily vehicle work orders for timely repair and minimal downtime.
- Innovation: Identify opportunities for cost reduction or efficiency gain.
- CSA & Safety: Conduct regular audits of mechanics' completed work and ensure fleet CSA management, DOT, OSHA, and EPA compliance, along with scheduled preventive maintenance.
- People: Lead, coach, and develop a team, ensuring all reviews and succession planning are completed.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Understanding of industry safety standards for commercial vehicles.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to use Microsoft word processing and spreadsheet applications.
- Ability to develop required fleet repair mechanic skill sets.
- Education:
- High school education or equivalent.
- Experience:
- Five years of experience in maintenance for fleet facilities with refrigeration units.
Working Conditions
Ability to work in severe weather conditions—both heat and cold.
Exposure to extreme temperatures, noise, and heights.
