We are seeking a Stagehand/ General Technician who will embody the heart and soul of our mission of creating memories worth repeating while bringing families closer together and caring deeply about our brand. The right Stagehand/ General Technician checklist will include equal parts curious learner, innovator, administrator, detail driver, mentor, and motivator.

This role exists to assist the Entertainment Department in performing the stage technical duties for various shows in order to provide Park Guests with a high-quality entertainment experience matching the expected level of Dolly and the Dollywood brand.

Additionally, the ideal candidate will be able display and live out Lead with Love qualities, strongly rooted in the Dollywood Company culture, by being patient, kind, trusting, unselfish, truthful, forgiving, dedicated and accountable.


Summary of Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Be knowledgeable of assigned location and its technical equipment
  • Be knowledgeable of show content and individual productions tracks
  • Assist technical set up of shows
  • Be able and willing to share knowledge and best use cases with other technical team members
  • Must work well with Stage manager, cast and crew
  • Responsible for staging and resetting various stages for next show
  • Changing stage sets for different shows
  • Wear Dollywood Entertainment provided costume or uniform
  • Keep work area orderly, neat, safe, and well-maintained
  • Assist in other areas of Entertainment Division as directed
  • Have a basic knowledge of electricity
  • Operate a spotlight
  • Drive company vehicles (cars, vans, non-commercial trucks) to transport personnel and/or supplies

Education and Experience Required

  • Must be minimum 18 years of age
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years backstage experience with school, community or professional theaters preferred
  • Carpentry and electrical skills preferred
  • Basic computer skills required
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and auto insurance
  • Must successfully complete a pre-employment background check including motor vehicle and drug screen

  • Must have manual dexterity necessary to complete all job duties
  • Able to sit and/or stand for long/short periods
  • Able to get along with other employees to work out problems and resolve conflicts
  • Able to comprehend instructions and retain information
  • Able to maintain dependable work attendance and flexibility with assigned work schedules including any required overtime, evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Able to be productive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Able to be flexible to handle frequent changes in priorities
  • Able to prioritize tasks and complete assignments on time
  • Able to operate/drive a company vehicle with valid driver’s license
  • Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide with accuracy
  • Able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds, with assistance
  • Able to communicate effectively using standard English grammar and punctuation
  • Able to tolerate temperatures of 0 to 140 degrees
  • Able to work outdoors
  • Ability to have physical mobility great enough to allow walking, kneeling, crawling, bending, reaching (high and low), twisting, and moving about tight spaces
  • Ability and mobility to work on a variety of surfaces including but not limited to: carpet, wood, steel, concrete, grass, and dirt while being able to bend, stoop, kneel, climb, lay, lift, and carry
  • Must be able to hear well in noisy environments
  • Able to see near and far and have good color and depth perception
  • Must be able to operate electrical equipment properly
  • Able to climb and work comfortably in high positions up to 80 feet off the ground
  • Able to communicate over headset and radio
  • Able to perform all job duties in a safe manner while following all Dollywood Safety procedures and policies
  • Must be able to sweep and mop floors to keep areas clean for safety purposes
